Shyamalan stands up for 'sweet guy' Gibson

      Washington: Hollywood director M Night Shyamalan has become the latest celebrity to support disgraced actor/director Mel Gibson as he recovers from stinging attacks following his much-publicised anti-Semitic rant. Shyamalan who is in London for the British premiere of his new movie 'The Lady In The Water', said that the Oscar winning actor is very kind and sweet to everyone around him and hoped that Gibson will overcome all the troubles. "He's very kind to everyone around him, he has never treated anybody badly. Who he is will always come out and he's an inspiring, sweet guy, so eventually he'll overcome all this," Contactmusic quoted him as saying. Gibson was arrested for drunken driving on July 28 in Malibu and reportedly launched an anti-Semitic rant toward the arresting deputy. Gibson reportedly said,"The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world," and asked the officer, "Are you a Jew?" Admitting he has a problem with alcohol, the 50-year-old, has twice apologized for his remarks. However, Hollywood is still divided on their opinion about Gibson, with several film executives criticizing the star and one actor vowing he would never work with him. Actors Jodie Foster and Patrick Swayze were among the first showbiz stars to lend their support to Gibson.

      Washington: New James Bond Daniel Craig has been honoured the title of the Best Dessed Man in the World, by the American edition of men's magazine Esquire. The 38-year-old claimed the coveted accolade, by leaving behind R&B singer John Legend, and Crash actor Terrence Howard in second and third places respectively. And while Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal was named the world's fourth most dapper man,Australian rocker Nick Cave rounded out the top five. The worst dressed list included the names of Britney Spears' son Sean Preston, Guns n' Roses frontman Axl Rose and Jennifer Lopez's husband Marc Anthony.

Rolling Stones to rock Clinton's birthday bash

      Washington: Legendary rockers The Rolling Stones are set to give a special performance as part of the celebrations to mark the 60th birthday of the former US president Bill Clinton. The band's private concert at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on October 29th will mark the culmination of two months of festivities to celebrate the former President's 60th birthday on August 17th. The show is being organised by movie producer Steve Bing and will be filmed by Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese. The concert is part of a series of events to raise money for the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation. "President Clinton has dedicated his life to public service, and his 60th birthday celebration will be no different. All of the funds from these events will go to support his foundation and its work around the world," New York Post quoted Clinton's spokesman, Jay Carson, as saying. The three main Clinton causes are providing AIDS drugs in Africa, fighting global warming and combating childhood obesity.

Emergency landing for passengers to go to loo

      London: Instead of reaching its destination, a plane had to take a detour, and make an emergency landing on a Canadaian runaway, so that its 295 British tourists could go to the loo. TheThomson flight TOM1578 destined for Birmingham from Cancun in Mexico, had to divert to Goose Bay, Canada, because its passengers had been banned from using 767's toilets in case they 'overflowed,' after ground crew forgot to empty them before take- off. "The pilot said there was a problem with the loo and we could not go to the toilet any more," The Sun quoted a passenger, as saying "You can imagine what it was like. Everyone wanted to go to the loo. It was very uncomfortable," the passenger added.

Billy Bob Thorton hates women with long toes

      Washington: It seems red-hot sex can turn cold for Angelina Jolie's ex-hubby Billy Bob Thorton if he ends up with a woman who has odd looking, long toes. "I hate really long toes, where they look like claws... It looks like they (women) have hands instead of feet", Contactmusic quoted him, as saying. Thorton further said that hair on a woman's body act as an instant turn-off for him in his bedroom. Apart from his sexual turn-offs, the actor also revealed of having a phobia of antique furniture.

      Washington: Rumours are rife that Brandon Routh may soon get hitched to longtime girlfriend Courtney Ford, after the macho actor was spotted buying a dazzling diamond engagement ring. According to Contactmusic, the Superman Returns star spent more than an hour choosing an exclusive ring at an elite jewellery store in Beverly Hills, California, and finally settled on a band set with diamonds, that cost him 42, 000 dollars. The 26 year old Hollywood hunk fell for Ford when they starred together in 2004 short film Denial, and the couple have dated ever since.
