Christians
in Pakistan not provided justice: Archbishop
Lahore:
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has
said that Christian minorities in Pakistan and other Muslim
countries were often not provided justice and it was a matter
of concern. He said that both communities did not trust
each other as Muslims considered Christians of being imperialist
agents, and Christians in Muslim countries were being denied
justice. "Muslims do not trust Christians considering them
agents of imperialism or the United States. Both communities
do not trust each other because Christian minorities in
Muslim countries are not provided justice, which is evident
from recent incidents in Pakistan and Egypt," he said. Williams,
who is also a doctorate in theology from Oxford University
said that both religions had a common history and Christians
and Muslims should remain united and work together and not
become hostage to the global geopolitical events, reports
the Daily Times. He said that Christians should understand
that theirs was not a western religion, as well ask themselves
whether they were critical enough of the Western political
agenda. "Islam and Christianity are part of the same story
that is told differently. Christians should ask themselves
whether they are critical enough of the Western political
agenda," Williams added.
