calls for rededication to Guru Tegh Bahadur's ideals
New Delhi: The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on
Wednesday called on the nation to remember the teachings
and ideals of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Teg Bahadur. In
a message to the people on the occasion of Guru Tegh Bahadur's
Martyrdom Day, Dr. Singh described it as a solemn occasion
to remember his teachings and sacrifices. "It is a day to
rededicate ourselves to the ideals of equality, brotherhood
and compassion as epitomised by Guru Tegh Bahadur," Dr.
Singh said in his message, and expressed the hope that the
Martyrdom Day of Guru Teg Bahadur would inspire people to
embrace the values of tolerance and strengthen the mosaic
of cultural and communal harmony in the country.
