Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain breaks down second time (Go To Top)

          London: The Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain broke down consecutively for the second time this week and had to be drained out. The three million pound memorial, which took two years to build and was unveiled by the Queen in Hyde Park last week, began to overflow when the water filters became clogged with leaves and other debris. According to The Mirror, engineers who were called to repair motors intend to install filters to prevent similar blockage. "We hope this is the end of the problem," a royal spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Timberlake puts the breaks on 'N Sync's greatest hit album (Go To Top)

          New York: Hip hop sensation Justin Timberlake's unwillingness to get back with the boy band 'N Sync' has delayed the release of the band's greatest hits album. According to ratethemusic.com the singer is required to record vocals for three new tracks that will feature on the group's new CD, but has yet to agree to return to the studio. While band mates JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick are ready to get back together but even top executives at Jive Records have been unsuccessful in trying to convince Justin to join them. "There's meant to be a greatest hits coming out in November and a possible Christmas TV special, but it's all now up in the air," a source was quoted by The Daily Mirror as saying. "Justin's had so much success that he doesn't need to get back with the band. He's also very busy and finding the time to do stuff with the band is hard, but if he really wanted to make it work, he could," he added.

         London: Don't be surprised if you see the "Friends" beauty, Jennifer Anniston, looking somewhat different, as she was recently spotted at a posh cosmetic surgery clinic. According to The Sun, Anniston, who was voted as the most powerful celebrity by the Forbes magazine last year, visited the Lasky Centre in Beverly Hills recently. She, however, left by the back door to escape the paparazzi. Hubby Brad Pitt had visited the clinic last year. "Jennifer went in to the clinic with a friend last Thursday. She was very anxious not to be recognized and was later whisked away through a back door. She was there for about five hours before being taken off to a private address. Brad wasn't with her," the report quoted an insider as saying.

Elton John's spat spells kaput for his own party (Go To Top)

          New York: Music icon Sir Elton John ditched his own party recently after a benefit concert at Radio City Music Hall for the Juilliard School and London's Royal Academy of Music. The singer left because he got into a spat with a guest, after she told him that she was better than him at playing the piano, reports the New York Daily News. According to the report, just after John entered the party, a middle-aged woman told him "I play better boogie-woogie piano than you." "No, you can't, and you know what, you're one rude b----," the "Candle in the Wind" singer retorted, after which he stormed out of the party. However, he returned after the hostess for the evening called him on his cell phone and managed to persuade him to come back. The singer received a standing ovation on his return and a tribute from Juilliard School President Joseph Polisi. "Elton, you are a genius and you bring passion, joy and hope for the future to your music, hope that we all need," the report quoted Polisi as saying.

Paramount's new take on 'The Ten Commandments' (Go To Top)

          New York: Paramount Pictures wants to hit the silver screen with "The Ten Commandments" a third time. According to New York Daily News, the move is fuelled by the recent success of faith-based in Hollywood such as Mel Gibson's blockbuster "The Passion of the Christ". The studio has already made two versions of the classic story - Cecil B. DeMille's 1923 silent version and his famous 1956 Oscar- winning epic.

26,000 dollars found in man's stomach in Columbia airport (Go To Top)

          London: A man named Johnny Chilito was caught at a Colombian airport with 26,000 dollars in his stomach. According to Ananova, Chilito was x-rayed because the police felt that he was very nervous while waiting to go through a security check. The x-ray revealed that Chilito had 80 latex packets made from surgical gloves inside his stomach. He was trying to board a flight to the Peruvian capital, Lima "We find drugs inside the stomachs of smugglers all the time, but this is the first time we've ever found dollars," the report quoted police colonel, Jorge Luis Vargas, as saying. Vargas said the money was probably going to be used to pay for a heroin shipment destined for the United States. Chilito faces eight years in jail if he is convicted of money laundering.

          Washington: US President George W Bush's daughters, Jenna and Barbara Bush have entered the world of fashion by becoming stars of 'Vogue' magazine. "Until now, they've been best known for their inevitable but sparse tabloid appearances and the much-mentioned reports of their 2001 run-in with the law for underage drinking," says 'Vogue' on Barbara and Jenna Bush. Jenna, draped in a strapless, cranberry-coloured Oscar de la Renta gown, shows off a Harry Winston bracelet. Barbara, on the opposite page, is attired in a strapless, champagne-coloured Calvin Klein gown. The spread, headlined 'Sister Act', was shot in May and the article is a glowing take on the twins' coming of age.

Pamela Anderson to reveal all next month (Go To Top)

          New York: "Baywatch" actress Pamela Anderson is all set to pen down her autobiography "Star," which tells the story of a naive girl's journey from being a nobody to becoming big star and her experiences after getting her assets enhanced surgically. According to the New York Post, the jacket of the book will have a semi-nude picture of her on it, but now an option of buying a plain pink book cover has been made available after sellers raised objections. The book will be released next month.
