Beckham's missed ball is worth six million pounds (Go To Top)

          London: David Beckham's missed ball is surely having a ball! The penalty kick might have failed to get a semi final berth for his team but the ball used for the fateful kick surely spells money. According to a report in The Sun, a bidder has offered a whopping six and a half million pounds for the ball which got lost amongst the spectators after Beckham missed his goal. The ball was reportedly caught by a Spaniard, Pablo Carral, who has now put it up for sale on auction site eBay.

          London: Actor Marlon Brando's last role was as the voice of a female character in the animated film "Big Bug Man". The co-director and writer of the film, Bob Bendetson originally offered Brando the role of a gold-digging shopkeeper. But Brando chose to lend his voice to Mrs Sour instead, the owner of a sweet factory. The star dressed up for the part with full make-up, a dress and a blond wig. "I think part of it was that he just liked to mess with people. He did like to be playful, but I think the other part was he thought this would just help his character." Bendetson was quoted as saying. According to Ananova, this is not the first time that the legend has dressed as a woman: his character in "The Missouri Breaks" wore a bonnet and a pinafore. It was reportedly the late actor's dream to lend his voice to a female character. "I was told by his agent and manager that it was always a dream of his to play a woman in an animated movie. For some reason, that was his dream," Bendetson was quoted as saying in a report.

          Washington: In a bid to persuade people to vote, several pop artists, including the Backstreet Boys, Ashanti, Monica, Russell Simmons and Hollywood beauty Minnie Driver are collaborating to sing their own version of the 1960's hit "Wake Up Everybody." According to ratethemusic.com, the proceeds from the song will be used to create a voter contact program. The song is slated for an August release. "We're trying to push people to vote. It's not a partisan thing. I'm just saying, 'Get involved in the process," the report quoted producer Kenneth Edmonds as saying.

Erica Durance is Superman's new lady (Go To Top)

          New York: Actress Erica Durance is all set to step into the shoes of Superman's lady love Lois Lane. According to the New York Post, Durance will be seen in Warner Brothers' "Smallville" as a college fresher who has no interest in journalism yet. "Smallville" is one of The WB's most popular shows that follows the adventures of a super-powered, teenaged Clark Kent (Tom Welling) before he becomes Superman. "Of all the different female leads in comics, Lois Lane was always my favourite because she was so involved," the paper quoted Durance as saying. "I know that Superman was the one who did all the big stuff, but Lois Lane was always in there, she wasn't just this female waiting for someone to help her - at least that's the impression that I always got," she added.

Burglar seeks police help after getting locked in (Go To Top)

          London: A cat burglar was forced to call the police for help after he found himself trapped in the art gallery that he intended to rob. According to Ananova, the thief broke into the gallery by climbing down a rope but was unable to climb back up. When he realised that he couldn't climb out again, the burglar used a phone in the gallery to call the police. The police arrived and arrested the man who had been monitored by security cameras from the time he entered the gallery through its skylight. "There are professional thieves, but this guy was not only not a professional, he wasn't even an apprentice - he was a total loser," Gallery owner Roy Saper was quoted as saying.

Aguilera wants to get married before Britney says 'I Do' (Go To Top)

          Washington: Pop star Christina Aguilera has reportedly brought her wedding date forward to beat rival Britney Spears down the aisle. The 'Dirtty' singer is engaged to her long-time boyfriend Jordan Bratman and seems to be in a hurry to say 'I Do' to him before Britney ties the knot with Kevin Federline. "Christina's suddenly bringing forward her wedding from 'sometime down the line' to 'as soon as possible'. It's no secret Britney wants to get married and have a baby. That's exactly what Christina wants with Jordan," rate the music quoted a source as saying. "If Christina can do it all first and make Britney look like an also-ran - so much the better! The talk is about who to invite to the wedding and where the nursery's going. They don't sound like they're kidding," added the source.

J. Lo's secret honeymoon at Kennedy suite in California (Go To Top)

         Washington: Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony had sneaked off on honeymoon to the California retreat that was decided upon by the pop diva to spend her first night as Mrs Ben Affleck last year. According to rate the music, the couple reportedly enjoyed a 'quick honeymoon' on 11 and 12 June (04) at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California. Interestingly, the new Mr. and Mrs. Anthony celebrated their honeymoon on the same bed that would have welcomed Ben and Jen in the 1,875 dollars-a-night Kennedy Suite.

         London: Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham is all set to try her hand at designing clothes! According to a report in The Sun, Victoria has been roped in by Rock & Republic label for designing a fashion range for them. The label owned by Robert De Keyser is reportedly famous for its funky denim styles.
