Nature Trail inaugurated in President's Estate

New Delhi: In an effort to bring the people closer to Rashtrapati Bhavan and to encourage environmental awareness, a Nature Trail was opened in the President's estate on Saturday. A result of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil's keen interest to protect the ecological heritage, Nature Trail forms a part of the Roshini Project aimed at making the Estate a green, energy efficient and zero waste model township. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also participated in the Nature Trail inauguration.

The ecological heritage of Rashtrapati Bhavan along with natural and managed eco system of the President's Estate are an ideal platform for promoting education about natural and environmental awareness amongst students and visitors. The trail will allow visitors to walk through 75 acres of the President's Estate, which has a natural forest eco system, an agro eco system and a pond-eco system. It is proposed that the trail would be opened to visitors on Saturdays when the Change of Guard Ceremony shall be held on the approach road to Rashtrapati Bhavan between North and South Blocks. The public will become aware of the importance of environmental protection, and would also get an opportunity to come closer to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
