Gold is one beautiful thing people love: Kajol
Jewellery exhibition opens in Delhi

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Kajol Devgan, inaugurated the 22nd edition of India's largest gold and jewellery show, 'Festival of Gold 2008', in New Delhi on Tuesday. The ten-day show organised by the Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation or MMTC will showcase one of the best jewellery designs from across the country.

Speaking to the media, the Bollywood actor said that people love everything beautiful and gold is one of those beautiful things. "Whenever you think of gold on any occasion, you feel special. It's something that has religious meaning as well as special meaning for everybody," said Kajol.

The exhibition is part of the MMTC's efforts to provide quality, hallmarked gold jewellery to customers. The exhibition gives a unique opportunity to customers to buy jewellery of wide variety. Sanjeev Batra, Chairman and Managing Director, MMTC, said that in today's volatile situation gold was a safe investment. "People are more interested in gold because the stock market is very volatile. People should go for gold as it is considered a safe investment," Barta added. The MMTC is also selling its "Sanchi" brand of silverware in the exhibition. This brand is known for its exclusive designs, purity, quality and spectacular craftsmanship. The gems and jewellery sector is amongst the fastest growing industries in the country while occupying an important position in the Indian economy and accounting for nearly 13.05 per cent of the country's total exports.
