HC refuses stay, Aamir's Ghajini released across India

Mumbai: Aamir Khan's much hyped flick Ghajini was released in theatres across the country and abroad on schedule on December 25, Christmas Day, as the Bombay High Court refused to grant stay on its release. The hearing has been adjourned until December 26. Trouble for the film started when the Madras High Court on Tuesday stayed (and later lifted the stay) the screening of Ghajini starring actor Aamir Khan over the case of alleged copyright violation. Written and directed by AR Murugadoss, Ghajini is a remake of a Tamil film released three years ago under the same title.

Earlier, a Ghazini mania had hit Mumbai with employees of multiplexes sporting Aamir Khan's hairstyle to promote Ghajini. About 100 employees of a multiplex in Khan's trendy hairdo posed for photographs with the actor himself. Talking to reporters Khan said that it's a marketing device and he is happy to see the excitement of the theatre staff. "This is the part of a promotion plan which the marketing team had come up long back. I think that it's great to their enthusiasm that all the personnel in theatres are showing towards the film, shows the excitement towards the film that is coming. I can see that they feel it's an event. I am glad they are looking upon it as that," he added. Khan will be flaunting his eight-pack abs and trendy hairdo in Ghajini. He looks very brawny in his eagerly awaited film Ghajini. The film was scheduled for release on Diwali but was postponed to December 25. The film is said to be on the theme of the protagonist suffering from short-term memory loss and seeking revenge for his wife's murder.

Bollywood actor Jiah Khan, who has acted in Gajini, talked about her role in the movie during a promotional programme in Bangalore. Jiah Khan said that she played the role of a medical student who studies the brain of a rich businessman played by actor Aamir Khan in the movie. "In Ghajini, I play a medical student. Her name is Sunita. She studies the brain. She comes across Aamir Khan's case study. That is how she gets involved in his personal vendetta and his life," said Jiah Khan. Jiah Khan who has earlier acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Ram Gopal Verma's movie `Nishabd' compared the experience of working with both the Bollywood stars Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan and said that both the actors were different from each other. "They are both extremely different people. Bachchan is more spontaneous and relaxed whereas Aamir is always striving for a better take and to do better. But both are thorough professionals which is really nice," she said. The movie is about a rich businessman who suffers from a short-term memory loss after a violent encounter. The movie directed by AR Murugadoss has Aamir Khan, Asin, Jiah Khan and Mohit Ahlawat in the cast.
