Nokia racalls defective mobile battery
New Delhi: Nokia mobile company has issued a product advisory for the Nokia-branded BL-5C battery manufactured by Matsushita Battery Industrial Co., Ltd. of Japan between December 2005 and November 2006. About 100 incidents of overheating have been reported globally. However, no serious injuries or property damage has been reported. The company is offering to replace 46 million mobile phone batteries after reports of overheating while charging. More than 50 Nokia models have these batteries. Over 250 million BL-5C batteries made for Nokia by other manufacturers are not affected, the company said. How to identify the battery: Remove the battery from the phone. On the front is the batch number like BL 5C. On the reverse of the battery the identification number consisting of 26 characters is printed at the bottom. What to do if the batch No is BL 5C: 1. SMS BT<space><26character identification number> and send to 5555. 2. Call Nokia care centre at 30303838 prefixed by the customer's local STD code (from mobile) or 080 if calling from landline and give the 26 character identification number. 3. the battery falls in the defective group, a new battery will be couriered
in exchange, claims the company. |
