Dooj celebrated
Mathura/Allahabad:
Hindus in northern India celebrated Bhai Dooj, a
festival of siblings, today. In northern Mathura town
in the state of Uttar Pradesh, women and young girls
flocked to the banks of holy river Yamuna with their
brothers to take a dip in the river and perform rituals.
Rituals also took place in the state’s Allahabad city
where women applied vermilion on their brothers' forehead
and prayed for their long life.
