Mongari fair: Pancheri cave attracts pilgrims

Udhampur ( Jammu ): Pilgrims thronged the three-day annual Mongari fair held in the caves of Pancheri Block, about 55 km from Jammu 's Udhampur district. The Pancheri cave shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The shrine has natural protrusion of rocks, which appear to be manifestation of the deities. "The idols of God and Goddesses have protruded clearly from the walls of the cave. It looks like Gods are sitting in real. We feel like seeing it again and again," said Ranjana Mahajan, a pilgrim. "I felt really good, I came here for the first time and I liked it very much," said Shishir, another pilgrim. Over 10,000 pilgrims visited the shrine during the three-day fair, which concluded on Saturday. Devotees had an amusing time on the joy-rides. They also participated in traditional games like wrestling. Stalls and shops set up in the vicinity of the cave shrine did brisk business during the fair.
