Ritu Beri ties the knot

New Delhi: Top fashion designer Ritu Beri (32) today got married in the Capital to a Delhi-based exporter, Bobby Chadha (42). The wedding took place in a glittering ceremony at a sprawling farmhouse in the Capital's outskirts. Beri, the diva of the country's fashion industry, and Chadha have known each other for over three years. Dressed in a rose-pink long skirt lined with intricate gold embroidery that she herself had designed for the occasion, Beri said she was living a dream. "It's better than my dream wedding actually. I am very happy, its different, it's like a party," she added. As the newly-weds mingled with a glitteratti of film and fashion celebrities from within the country and abroad, a visibly elated groom echoed his brand new wife's sentiment. Absolutely.......your dream wedding. It couldn't have been better," Chadha said. Bollywood yesteryear's star Rekha was among the first to arrive to wish the couple. World-famous designer and Beri's trainer Francois Lesage said he had been completely bowled over by the richness of traditional Indian dresses born by most of the ladies at the wedding. "I am here because first I like the quality of surrounding, quality of the people and elegance of the ladies. They wear a lot of sarees. Particulalry, I am very close Beri's family. I wish her luck," Francois Lesage said. Beri was the first Indian designer to present her collection in Paris. Her pret-a-porter line, an impressive couture collection had the French and Italian media raving about her when she joined Jean Louis Scherrer in 2002. She stepped into the industry with the launch of her studio 'Lavanya' after graduating from National Institute of Fashion Technology in 1989. Beri has also created uniforms for many top Indian companies - Hyatt Regency Hotels, the Delhi Police, the Indian team to the Atlanta Olympic Games, besides the Bollywood. She is also a columnist in many of leading journals.

Hyderabad: The world's most expensive Kamarbandh or waist band, made of a kilogram of gold and studded with 8000 diamonds worth two crore rupees, is currently on display at a Lifestyle shop in Hyderabad. Jewellery is an integral part of a woman and catching onto this mindset is the Mumbai based Ishi Jewellery, which has come out with the most expensive Kamarbandh. "Ishis proudly presents the most expensive Kamarbandh at the price of 2 crores. This unique piece is the only piece in the world, which is made of 8000 diamonds and studded with 1 kilo gold. This is the most expensive kamarbandh in the world. Ishis has brought it to Hyderabad, Lifestlye to display it to the customer," said Manoj Subramanian, Marketing Manager, Ishis Jewellery. Subramanian thinks that even though the piece is expensive, fashion conscious people will definitely go for it. Mehzabeen Raza, the model waering the Kamarbandh thinks that it goes very well with a traditional Indian saree. "People are becoming more fashion conscious. I do not think they would mind to go for it. Today, the fashion trend is retro-style. Saree being the traditional outfit, the Kamarbandh looks really nice with a saree," said Mehzabeen. It took approximately two months to complete the exquisite pink and white coloured Kamarbandh.
