Kazakh musician to perform opera in Mumbai

New Delhi: Renowned Kazakh classical violinist Marat Bisengaliev will perform the Madame Butterfly opera. Bisengaliev will participate in a joint concert with the Stutgart Symphonic Orchestra at Mumbai's Jamshedji Bhabha Theatre in the National Centre for the Performing Arts on February 27. The concert will be conducted by Johannes Wildner and performed by the leading world singers M.Malagnini, D.Ceconne, E.Veda and other international invitees. Bisengaliev finished the task of setting up the first ever professional Symphonic Orchestra of India in Mumbai in August 2006. Funded completely by the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Bisengaliev was given a carte blanche to make the orchestra truly world-class. According to Bisengaliev, "India has the potential to become a major hub for Western classical music like Singapore, South Korea and China". Bisengaliev and NCPA officially launched the Symphony Orchestra of India on August 10, 2006 and in the initial stage, the orchestra includes instrumentalists from all over the world, including 35 from Kazakhstan.
