                            International seminar on art, culture in Delhi  
                                  New 
                            Delhi: An international seminar, Art of Central 
                            Asia and the Indian Sub-continent in Cross- Cultural 
                            Perspective, will be held here from March 12. The 
                            five-day seminar aims at presenting an extensive appraisal 
                            of art and culture of individual regions of Central 
                            Asia, including those that have so far not been sufficiently 
                            explored. The seminar will focus on several issues, 
                            including sources of Buddhist art, scribes and artists, 
                            the art of Gandhar, the art of Eastern Central Asia 
                            and Dunhuang, the art of Western Central Asia , Buddhist 
                            and Hindu Iconography of Central Asian art, textiles, 
                            issues of cross-cultural influences, Hermeneutics 
                            and historical contexts. Sixteen foreign scholars 
                            of eminence from eleven different countries of three 
                            continents and seventeen from India will present their 
                            papers on different aspects of Central Asian Art at 
                            the five-day event. The seminar will be presided by 
                            Padma Shri Professor B.N Goswamy in the National Museum 
                            auditorium, and Padma Bhushan Professor Lokesh Chandra, 
                            will deliver the keynote address. The valedictory 
                            session will be presided by Dr. A.K.V.S. Reddy, Director 
                            General National Museum and Vice Chancellor, National 
                            Museum Institute. It is being organised by the National 
                            Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and 
                            Museology.
