food festival in Ludhiana
by Karan

Ludhiana:
The Park Plaza in Ludhiana recently hosted a month-long
food festival of Rajasthan dishes. On the menu were
Jodhpuri mirchi wada, Pink City kabab, paneer ke gatte
and palak rajbhog, to name a few. Special thalis (plates)
were served with names such as "Maharaja" and "Maharani".
It was hosted in the traditional manner at the Punjab
Spice restaurant, which was spruced up in a Rajasthani
theme. Attendants too were dressed in Rajasthani attire.
Sabya Sachi Chatterjee, the Food and Beverages manager
at the Park Plaza , said Ludhianvis would love a break
from the routine dishes that they eat. "Rajasthan
is a huge State and is divided into many regions.
Each region has different food items, both spicy and
non-spicy. Going by the taste-buds of Ludhianavis
they would love to have this food from Rajasthan,"
said Chatterjee. CR Parmar, a chef from Jodhpur ,
cooked a combination of delicacies, such as Khasta
mogar kachori, Dahi wada Bikaneri, Gobind Gatta Curry
and Kabuli pulao. The lip-smacking Rajasthani food
tempted not only Ludhianvis, but foreign tourists
as well. Michael, a German tourist, said: "Indian
food is available in Germany as well. But, Rajasthani
food has something special". All the more, presence
of internationally acclaimed folk singer from Jodhpur
, Samder Khan Langa, made the feast unforgettable.
