Mount Attacks Along Amarnath Yatra Route SRINAGAR:Three soldiers were killed when militants blew up an army vehicle with land-mines on the Amarnath yatra (pilgrimage) route recently. The yatra begins from Jammu on July 19. (Amarnath yatra details) According to reports, Hizbul Mujahiddeen has claimed responsibility for the attack. In another incident, several Central Reserve Police Force jawans and civilians were injured when militans attacked a patrol party in Anantnag with hand-grenades. Over the years, the incidence of militant attacks has been increasing along the Amarnath yatra route. -India

Overseas 10 Killed in Shoot-out at Jammu Temple (Go to Top) JAMMU: At least 10 people were killed and 20 others, mostly civilians, were injured when three militants attacked the Raghunath temple here in the morning on 30 March. Among those killed were four civilians, four policemen and two militants. According to police officials, the militants, who came in an Ambassador car, threw a grenade at the temple's gate and opened fire from AK-47 rifles. The police guards posted there managed to kill one of them instantly, while the remaining two sneaked inside the temple, which was packed with about 250 worshippers. Eyewitnesses said policemen chased the two militants inside the temple and shot one as he reportedly took refuge in the temple's sanctorum where the main idol is installed. -ANI Six Kidnapped from Katra (Go to Top) JAMMU: Six persons have been kidnapped by militants from Katra. Overseas Three Held for Duping Job-Seekers (Go to Top) NEW DELHI: Three persons - Zafar Ahmed, Porvez Nadeem and Shankar - have been arrested for duping job-seekers on the pretext of getting them job abroad. The police said they cheated 240 persons of Rs 3 cr. The accused had given forged visas to their clients. Fake rubber stamps, 140 passports and immigration office stamps were seized in the police raid. -India
Overseas Youth Held for Hacking Site (Go to Top) NEW DELHI: The police arrested a youth for allegedly hacking his former employer's website. A computer student of IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University), the youth was sacked from an IT company he was working with. The police traced the source computer used in the hacking. The data from the hard disc of his computer showed that he was the hacker, police said. -India
Overseas Police Website Hacked (Go to Top) MUMBAI: Within six months, the Mumbai police website was hacked a second time. On New Year's day, the unknown hacker defaced the site, www.ccicmumbai.com and posted certain remarks on the home page, advising the police to be more careful in guarding the site. The Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) of the police are investigating. -India

Nigerians Held for Cheating Through the Net NEW DELHI: Four Nigerians have been arrested for duping travel agents using credit card numbers stolen from the Internet. The accused had cheated the travel agents by purchasing air tickets from them online by providing stolen credit card details. The racket was unearthed following a complaint by a travel agent that a business deal struck by one of the accused to the tune of Rs 98,585 was dishonoured by the credit card firm.
