Arun Gawli undergoes lie-detection test Bangalore:
Don-turned-politician Arun Gawli on Tuesday underwent a lie-detection
test at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Bangalore in connection
with a case of hatching conspiracy with aspiring actor Preeti Jain to
kill film director Madhur Bhandarkar. According to the police sources,
the polygraph test on Gawli was conducted for about two hours. Although
not much detail was given about the outcome of the test, the police planned
to get clues whether Gawli had any role in the plot to murder Madhur Bhandarkar.
Gawli is understood to have been questioned about the letter allegedly
issued by him two months ago dismissing co-accused Naresh Pardeshi from
the post of Shakha Pramukh of his party and his phone conversations with
Pardesi and Preetii during the period when the plot was allegedly hatched
to kill Bhandarkar. Mumbai Police had recorded Gawlis statement some
time ago, but was not satisfied with his reply and asked him to undergo
the test at FSL on January 23, but the MLA from Chinchpoli bought time
stating that he was busy with court proceedings. After that Mumbai Police
took fresh appointment at the FSL on January 31 and informed Gawli to
reach Bangalore on the scheduled date. Mumbai Police wanted Gawli to undergo
even the `truth serum' narco-analysis test and the P-300 brain mapping
test, but Gawli challenged the decision in the Supreme Court. The apex
court stayed the narco-analysis and brain mapping tests, but has allowed
Mumbai police to go ahead with the lie detector test. Pardeshi had allegedly
told the police that he had taken money from Jain to eliminate Bhandarkar,
but later during a narco- analysis test Pardesi claimed that he had framed
Jain on Gawli's behest. |
