accused of receiving 'dubious' investments
NEW
DELHI: The Intelligence Bureau has reported
to the Civil Aviation Ministry that Jet Airways
and its promoter-chairman Naresh Goel had been
receiving large "dubious" investments from sources
in Gulf countries and that Goel had links with
underworld dons Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel
who operate from there.
Jet Airways has refuted the charges, stating,
"The airline has no connection with Dawood or
the underworld. It is an attempt to defame Jet
Airways".

Direct
flight to Taiwan
NEW
DELHI: China Air of Taiwan has started direct
three flights a week between Delhi and Taipei.
Mainland China's China Eastern Airlines has already
started flights to India. A return flight to Taipei
in economy class will cost Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000
in business class. The airline has tied up with
Air India for engineering services.

Foundation
laid for Sikkim airport
PAKYONG
(Sikkim), Apr 6 (ANI): Vice-President Krishan
Kant on Saturday laid the foundation stone of
an airport here.
The
airport is likely to meet the long-standing demand
of the people of the state. The airport would
be situated around 35 km from Gangtok.
The
airport was a long-standing demand of the region
for boosting travel and tourism, besides the all-round
development of the state. At present the people
of Sikkim use Bagdogra airport in West Bengal
for their travel.

Resumption
of Guwahati-Bangkok flights a boost to tourism
GUWAHATI:
It was a momentous occasion at the Lokapriya Gopinath
Bardoloi International Airport in Guwahati on
Thursday. As Air India bearing the "Maharaja",
the official emblem of Air India, took off on
its maiden flight to Bangkok, it connected the
picturesque North Eastern region with the rest
of the world.
The flight is expected to open up the region as
an attractive tourist-spot for the world tourists.
Initially the flight will be available twice a
week.

MUMBAI:
German airlines Lufthansa plans to have 15 more
flights to India, according to a spokesman. The
airline currently runs daily flights from Frankfurt
to Delhi and Mumbai and three each to Bangalore
and Chennai. It is seeking a bilateral agreement
with the Government to double the service to Chennai.
