Mangalore demand for direct flights to Gulf

Kasargod (Kerala): Activists of the Mangalore Airport Action Committee staged a protest at Mangalore Airport on Wednesday demanding direct flight to the Gulf. The protest was organised by the Gulf Coordination Committee of the Indian Muslim Cultural Centre (IMCC). INL state general secretary P.M.A. Salam, MLA, led the protest. IMCC Gulf coordinator N.A. Nellikkunnu presided over the function. The INL-IMCC leaders later submitted a memorandum to the airport director. The director told the delegation that the civil aviation authorities had assured him that direct flight to the Gulf would start from October 2. According to the director, the Air India would conduct direct flight to Dubai from Mangalore. The return service would be through Delhi. The director said the Indian Airlines is also likely to start its service from Mangalore to the Gulf. PB Ahammed, N.A. Sulaiman, N.M. Abdullah and Moideen Kunhi Kalanad addressed the protesters.
