Goyal assures job for all Air Sahara staff

Mumbai: Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal has assured that no Air Sahara employee would lose job after its acquisition as there was already employee shortage especially that of pilots in Jet Airways. Talking to reporters, Goyal said, "I need people and I can absorb them." He said that all the employees of Air Sahara would be absorbed in the new entity on merit basis. He said that the deal would help Jet Airways in minimising employee shortage, especially that of pilots. According to sources Jet Airways is planning to more than double its existing strength of 550 pilots by 2008. Currently the company has a pilot shortage of around 10 percent. After announcement of acquisition of Air Sahara by Jet Airways on January 18, employees of Air Sahara especially pilots had gone on mass leave expressing fear that they might lose job or their cadres and emoluments would be affected.
