India, Italy sign new 'Air Services Agreement' New Delhi: The Government of India and the Government of Italy today signed new Air Services Agreement here to modify the existing Agreement between India and Italy. The Air Services Agreement has been amended to provide for multiple designations of airlines. India and Italy have agreed to make Kolkata an additional point of call in India for the designated airlines of Italy. Over and above the existing entitlements, the designated airlines of both Italy and India shall now be allowed to operate seven additional frequencies per week in each direction. As per the new Agreement, the airlines designated by the Government of India shall now be entitled to operate air services in both directions from points in India to Rome and Milan in Italy, the intermediate points of call specified being Karachi, Kandahar, Jeddah, Bahrain, Kuwait, Dhahran, Tehran, Basra, Baghdad, Damascus, Beirut, Tel Aviv, Cairo, Athens, Istanbul, Sophia and Belgrade. Indian carriers will have 'Fifth Freedom Traffic Rights' between the following points and Italy : Vienna, Geneva, Zurich, Prague, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt or Dusseldorf on Berlin, Copenhagen, London, Shannon, Gander, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Indian air carriers can operate without 'Fifth Freedom Traffic Rights' between the following points and Italy : Madrid or Lisbon and one point Latin America which includes South America, Central America and Mexico. The
airlines designated by the Government of Italy shall be entitled to operate
air services in both directions from points in Italy to Mumbai, Delhi
and Kolkata in India, the intermediate points of call being Istanbul,
Athens, Cairo, Tel Aviv, Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad, Basra, Tehran, Dhahran,
Kuwait, Bahrain, Jeddah, Kandahar and Karachi. Italian carriers can operate
with 'Fifth Freedom Traffic Rights' between the following points and India:
Yangon, Bangkok and further on to: (a) Saigon, HongKong, Manila, Tokyo
and (b) Singapore, Jakarta, Darwin, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Italian
carriers will not have 'Fifth Freedom Traffic Rights' between the following
points and India: Beijing or Shanghai and one point in Australia or Asia
including the People's Republic of China. The Indian delegation was led
by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Secretary Ajay Prasad and the Italian
delegation was led by Aldo Sansone, Director General, Department of Navigation
and Merchant Navy and Air Transport, Ministry of Infrastructures and Transports,
Italy.
