and brachycome and celosia. Flower lovers are making a
beeline to the ongoing week-long flower show at the historic
Lalbagh Gardens in Bangalore city in Karnataka. "I enjoyed
very much to have spent time here. I see flowers, we have
in France. But you have lot of colours, a lot of beautiful
things. And, you make beautiful pots and elephants. When
I return at the end of the week to France, I will take
along with me a nice memory of this exhibition," said
Jonia, a French visitor. This year, beautiful flower formations
of elephants and birds are drawing the crowds. But the
most interesting feature is the thirsty crow and half-filled
pitcher story depiction. "The flower show is really nice.
I really enjoyed it there are many roses here and they
have even depicted the thirsty crow story using the flowers.
All these formations are nice; I have not seen such formations
earlier," said Girish, another visitor.
Counted
among the most beautiful gardens in India, Lalbagh Gardens
houses a variety of tropical plants, herbs and trees in
its lawns spread over 240 acres. Lal Bagh Gardens are
aesthetically designed and house green lawns, flowerbeds,
lotus pools, watering systems for irrigation and fountains.
The garden derived its name 'Lal Bagh' because of a collection
of red roses that remain blooming throughout the year
in this garden. Currently the garden is blooming with
hundreds of varieties of flowers, ornamental plants, bonsais,
and medicinal plants besides roses. Lal Bagh Gardens also
have a collection of famous Botanical species and is therefore
referred as Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens as well. Though
people in large numbers visit the Lalbagh Gardens usually,
the garden gets a festive look around the Republic Day
celebrations (Jan. 26) when the flower show is held in
it. The flower show commenced on January 17 this year,
with participation of hundreds of nurseries from in and
around Bangalore. It will last till January 26, coinciding
with the nation's Republic Day.
