Fresh snowfall greets tourists in Kashmir Valley

Srinagar: Kashmir valley is attracting tourists with its fresh spell of snowfall. Srinagar is under a thick blanket of snow with trees, rooftops, roads and parks covered with snow. Tourists are also thronging hill resorts of Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg to enjoy various snow activities. One of the tourists from Mumbai was so excited to see the snowfall for the first time and said, "This is so beautiful and people should come and see. It is really heaven. There is snow everywhere. It is natural beauty." Gulmarg is a favourite destination for those tourists who are looking for winter sports. Residents said that the snowfall has brought back cheer to the tourism industry. "People are coming here in large numbers to experience the snowfall. They want to go and visit Shalimar garden, Gulmarg and other places," said Hanief Ahmad, a tourist taxi driver. Meanwhile, 300-kilometre-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the connection with the rest of the country, remained blocked for a second consecutive day after Kashmir received the heaviest snowfall in recent years.
