hosts grand rally of vintage cars Mumbai:
Showcasing the best of the bygone era, Vintage and Classic Car Club of India
(VCCCI) on Sunday hosted the annual rally of vintage cars. The rally provided
a glimpse of the best vintage collections that left the audience spellbound. The
rally, which witnessed a parade of the finest luxury and sports cars, was flagged
off from the Trident Hotel. More than 100 rare vintage cars participated in the
event, some of which dated back to 1900. VCCCI member Nitin Dossa said that he
main objective of the rally was to tell the future generation about the old heritage
of automobiles. "The next generation children should know what we had because
this is the only time when the cars come out and people watch," Dossa added. Among
the cars on view were the timeless beauties ranging from Bentley, Austin, Ford,
Chevrolet, Morris, Renault and Mercedes to Lamborghini, Range Rover, Porsche,
Ferrari and Audi. This rally of prized automobiles in the country was a spectacular
sight for thousands of car enthusiasts. "In India , there are so many vintage
cars. This is the time when we can come with our family and see all the 1930s
old models, Mercedes and other different types of car at one time,' opined Sheena,
a spectator. For many vintage car owners, it was a great event, taking them down
memory lane. "The interiors are made of pure ivory. It's a convertible and there
is no partition in the windows. So the whole thing falls and it's very low on
maintenance," said Akshay Singhania, an industrialist and owner-participant of
a vintage car. Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff was among the spectators and his
presence encouraged the participants.
