The driver went amok with his truck, driving wild on the road for several km, smashing vehicles and crushing pedestrians, before coming to a halt to be caught by the people. What triggered the rampage was a tiff with a car driver at the petrol pump.

JAIPUR, Nov 4: Nineteen people were killed and 13 injured when a dumper truck rashly driven by a drunk on a rampage smashed 17 vehicles in Jaipur in Rajasthan on Monday afternoon.

The incident took place near Loha Mandi in Jaipur’s Harmada area around 1 pm when the empty truck on Road No. 14 was entering the highway from the city.

The driver went on the rampage following an argument with a car driver at the petrol pump. The reckless driving continued for five km killing people on the way and crashing into over a dozen vehicles before coming to a halt. The truck smashed everything in its way.

Several dead and injured were seen trapped under mangled vehicles. Many bodies were mutilated.

The injured have been transported to hospitals. Three of them in critical condition have been shifted to the SMS Hospital Trauma Centre. Ten bodies and ten injured were brought to the Kanwatia hospital. Bodies are also being kept at SMS and CKS hospitals.

The driver Kalyan Meena from Viratnagar, was caight by the people. He has been taken into cistody and sent for medical examination for drunk driving.

There was a 'no entry' rule during day in the area for heavy vehicles. It s not known how could the truck move around. Four traffic employees have been suspended.

This comes a day after another tragedy on the road in Rajasthan when a tempo traveller bus rammed into a parked trailer truck in Phalodi district on Sunday killing 18 pilgrims. Three people were killed and several others injured when a bus transporting about 30 migrant workers from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh to a brick kiln in Manoharpur, near Jaipur, caught fire as after touching an overhead high-tension electric wire on the Delhi-Jaipur highway on October 28.Twenty passengers were burnt alive as a luxury bus caught fire in Jaisalmer on October 14.

The CCTV footage and the video circulating on social media do not indicate any serious abnormalities in takeoff or descent, it has been confirmed. The disaster is becoming curiouser and curiouser.
