Amritanandamayi offers Rs 100 cr    

   Devotees of Matha Amrithananda Mayi Ashram in Vallikkav near Karunagappalli in Kollam in Kerala distributing food to the victims of tsunami in a relief camp in Alappuzha district

   Amritapuri: World famous godwoman, Mata Amritananadamayi's trust is among hundreds doing their bit to provide relief and rehabilitation to those affected by the killer tsunami tragedy. Amritanandamayi's Ashram in coastal Vallikkavu in Kollam district in Kerala is working overtime to make sure that the survivors in the coastal areas of Andaman and Nicober Islands, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are benefited by the relief being sent. "We got food from the Ashram. Morning breakfast, lunch and dinner and the tea in the evening", said Mandakini, a survivor. The ashram has opened 21 counters across the affected areas to provide meals to all the victims, especially for women and children. The ashram has also donated 10 million rupees for relief and rehabilitation work.

      Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, Vice Chairman of the ashram, said they would construct temporary shelters for the survivors. "The coasts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Andaman...the Mata Amritanandamayi has been offering aid to the victims in the form of food, clothing and shelter. The major aid is 100-crore (one billion rupees) has been donated by Mata for the purpose of complete rehabilitation of the houses at the coastlines of these states," she said. Puri said four big halls would be constructed, which would be able to accommodate 400 people.
