London:
A new Swedish political party, called Feminist Initiative,
has vowed to abolish marriage if it comes into power, as
it believes that marriage "is not about love, but about
ownership". "Instead of marriage we want to promote a co-habitation
law that ignores gender and allows more than two people
in a partnership," Ananova quoted the party's founder Tiina
Rosenberg as saying. However, she also said that it did
not mean that the movement was in favour of one man having
multiple wives in his harem. "A man who lives with eight
women in a patriarchal structure, where the man decides
and the women obey is not what we are aiming for," she added.
The party's all-female board is also calling for the introduction
of a six-hour working day, in a bid to allure men to vote
for them.

Washington:
British actor Daniel Craig has sparked speculation that
he could be one of the contenders to replace Pierce Brosnan
as the next 007, after being spotted doing a bit of shopping
about the subject. Craig, who is among a short-list of favourites
to star in the forthcoming remake for Ian Fleming's first
007 novel Casino Royaler, including Clive Owen, Ewan McGregor,
Julian Mcmohan and Hugh Jackman, was reportedly seen in
one of Londons bookstores inquiring about a first edition
of the novel, coincidentally the title of the new Bond movie.
"I told him that he should expect to pay about GBP20,000.
He didn't seem particularly surprised at the price, but
then he didn't ask me to get him a copy either," Contactmusic
quoted Peter Ellis, the bookstore owner, as saying.

Washington: Hollywood beauty Cameron Diaz's toyboy lover
Justin Timberlake will apparently have a tough time if he
wants his lady love to move in with him. The free spirited
actress has confessed that she is touchy about her private
space and would not like to share it with anyone. The actress
also revealed that unpleasant experiences in the past, when
she tried living with former boyfriends, had taught her
to keep her own private space. "I would never live with
anybody ever again. God no. I might live on the same block.
I think people should have their own lives," she was quoted
by Contactmusic, as saying. This comes in the wake of earlier
reports that claimed that Timberlake and Diaz planned to
rent a place in London, so that the former could follow
his West End dreams, and be a part of actor Kevin Spacey's
play 'Resurrection Blues'.

Washington:
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie says that she got petrified
when she first saw her adopted baby Zahara in an orphanage,
but the baby is now fit and fine, and she has started calling
her 'chubby'. The 'Tomb Raider' actress said that Zahara
was almost on the brink of death at that time, but now she
has put on weight, and looks nothing like she did in the
orphanage. "She was six months and not nine pounds. Her
skin, you could squeeze it, it stuck together. It was terrifying.
Some children who were in a very similar situation to her
passed away. (But now) she's gained six pounds. We're calling
her chubby - she's just a totally different baby. It's amazing
what difference food and little bit of care makes," Contactmusic
quoted Jolie as saying. Jolie also said that Zahara and
her adopted son Maddox are the greatest people she had ever
met, as "They give me so much joy and I wanna make a better
world for them. I'm just grateful every day that I have
the chance."
Vitamin
C may help fight cancer (Go

London:
High doses of vitamin C injected into the bloodstream
may help fight cancer, according to a US study. Scientists
found that intravenous vitamin C in the form of ascorbate
killed cancer cells in lab tests. The findings contradict
earlier studies, but the Maryland-based Institutes of Health
said they had looked at lower-dose oral vitamin C. However,
cancer experts said the "overwhelming" evidence still suggested
vitamin C was not an effective treatment, reports the BBC.
Studies in the 1970s first suggested the administration
of high doses of vitamin C could help treat cancer, but
later research did not back this up. There are many substances
that have been shown to kill cancer cells in the lab but
failed to fulfil that promise when tested in people In the
latest study, published in the Proceedings of the National
Academy of Sciences, researchers conducted laboratory experiments
which simulated clinical infusions of vitamin C on a range
of nine cancer and four normal cells. In five of the cancer
lines, there was a 50% decrease in cell survival, while
normal cells were unaffected. A more detailed look at lymphoma
cells - which were especially sensitive to ascorbate - showed
they were killed completely. Researchers were unable to
explain what caused the results, although they did note
the treatment led to the formation of hydrogen peroxide,
a chemical known to be toxic to cells. Alternative medicine
practitioners have already administered high doses of intravenous
ascorbate. Lead researcher Dr Mark Levine said the treatment
would have to be proved safe before being given to patients.
But he added: "Ascorbate as a potential cancer therapeutic
agent has a controversial and emotionally charged past."
