Jagger
blasts Blair's betrayal over Iraq (Go
To Top)
Washington:
Rolling Stones frontman, Sir Mick Jagger, who had earlier
taken a veiled swipe at US President George Bush's policies,
has now trained his guns on British Prime Minister Tony Blair,
blaming him for betraying his countrymen over the need to
wage war on Iraq. He says, that while he was ambivalent on
the idea of getting rid of Saddam and putting Iraq back on
its feet, what shocked him was the fact that Blairs intention
to join the war, was something entirely different. "At the
time of the Iraq invasion, "I was ambivalent; getting rid
of Top of Saddam Hussein was a gift for humanity and I thought
that there was a coherent plan to put Iraq back on its feet.
(But it) shocked me to know that Blair already knew that the
weapons of mass destruction were simply an excuse and that
there was nothing planned for the day after (the invasion),
" ratethemusic quoted him, as saying. And he also fears that
if remedial measures to genuinely address the problems in
Iraq are not taken soon, it would be too late for the people
of that country. "If we do not take intelligent steps, a part
of Iraq will end up becoming an Islamic republic, a puppet
of Tehran," he added.

Washington:
Even as the horrors of Hurricane Katrina continue for
millions of devastated families till this day, for Latino
superstar Jennifer Lopez, it took TV images of a shattered
woman clinging on to wrecked pieces of her furniture, to have
the full impact of the horror to sink in. She said that the
intense loneliness and helplessness that she experienced after
watching the dramatic footage, opened her eyes to the harsh
realities of the situation, and compelled her to do all she
could to help alleviate the sufferings of the survivors. She
has since donated cash towards the relief effort, as well
appeared in last week's telethon, while urging others to do
their utmost for the cause. "There was one of these ladies
and all of a sudden she runs to a piece of wood and is, like,
'This is from our bedroom...' "That's... the only thing that
you have to hang onto from your life," ratethemusic quoted
her, as saying.
