'Saw II' horror sweeps across
the box office
London:
Donnie Wahlberg's horror sequel "Saw II" has topped the
Halloween box office in North America with 30.5 million dollars
of estimated earnings, almost double the 16.5 million dollars
opening of Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones starrer
"The Legend Of Zorro", which came in second. The movie also
easily outdid the original 2004 horror hit "Saw", which opened
with $18.3 million over last year's (04) Halloween weekend,
reports Eonline! quoting the estimates from Exhibitor Relations
Co. Comedy movie "Prime," starring Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep
, debuted at number three with $6.4 million, followed by "Dreamer"
with $6.3 million. "The Weather Man", starring Nicolas Cage
and Michael Caine, opened at number six with $4.3 million beated
by Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit earning $4.4
million.
