Prime Minister on two-day visit to Tripura, Manipur

Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is leaving today
for a two-day visit to Tripura and Manipur to attend few functions,
including two foundation-laying ceremonies. After reaching
Tripura today, Dr Singh will lay foundation stone of the proposed
gas-based mega power project at Palatana in South Tripura
district. Later in the day, the Prime Minister is scheduled
to lay the foundation stone of a new building complex for
the Tripura government medical college and hospital. He will
leave for Manipur on Saturday. The proposed 750 mw power project
will be set up by the Oil and Natural Gas Commission Ltd (ONGC)
at a cost of Rs 5200 crore. The Ministry of Forest and Environment
had given the go ahead for the project last month to utilise
the abundant natural gas available in the state in abundance.
