7/7 bomber buried in his ancestral village in Pakistan

Lahore: The bodily remains of Shehzad Tanweer, one of the 7/7 London bombers, were buried in his ancestral village in Punjab province. As many as 200 people attended the burial, but there were no Muslim hardliners or extremists seen, reported The Mirror. Before carrying out the deadly attacks in London earlier this year, Tanweer is said to have come into contact with Muslim hardliners in Pakistan where, according to earlier media reports, he received arms training in a madarssa. He stayed at the same village with his cousins and other relatives. During his three-month trip to Pakistan, which ended this February, the 22-year-old terrorist is said to have read the Quran and turned into a jihadi preparing himself to wage war on England. On returning back to London, Tanweer, a student at Leeds, joined up with the other three London bombers - Mohammed Siddique Khan (30), Hasib Hussain (18), and Jermaine Linsday (19), to launch the attacks on a local train killing at least 52 people and injuring several hundreds others. According to the paper, the Aldgate bomber's coffin was flown into Lahore from London before dawn yesterday, and later his parents Mumtaz and Parveen, who were on the flight, took it to Sumandri in eastern Punjab where he was buried at the shrine of Pir Barkat Ali Shah, an Islamic saint.
