Chennai: A sessions court in Chennai today adjourned the hearing of the Radhakrishnan assault case till November 11 after the Kanchi Seer, Jayendra Saraswati, filed a petition saying that he was unable to reach the court to due to heavy rains and water logging across the city. The counsel for Kanchi Seer, Karthikayen, said that the seer could not be present in the court today due to the continuous rains. Two other remand prisoners Appu and Kathiravan, who are also the accused in the case, were not brought to the court for the same reason. While all other accused were present in the court, third Additional Sessions Judge A R Selvakumar adjourned the case to November 11. Earlier, hearing in the case was adjourned till today following a petition that said that seer was unable to attend the court due to a back ailment. G. Radhakrishanan, a former aide of the seer, was assaulted way back in 2002. He had allegedly exposed the wrongdoings in the Kanchi Mutt after which he, his wife and an attendant were attacked. Besides, Seer is also accused of masterminding the murder of Sankarraman, a former Kanchi Mutt official. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has agreed to transfer the Sankararaman murder case proceedings to Pondicherry from Tamil Nadu following the Shankaracharya's plea on the ground that fair trial was not possible in the state.
