Mad scramble for tickets for 3rd one-dayer in Jaipur

Jaipur: Cricket mania has gripped Jaipur, which has witnessed a brisk sale of tickets for the third one-day international match between India and Sri Lanka on October 31. Long queues of cricket fans were seen in front of the gates of the Rajasthan University on Thursday where students stood for hours to get hold of their prized discounted ticket. Trouble started when only 2,700 discounted tickets were issued for over 200,000 students in the city. Students cribbed saying that they have been standing in the queue since morning and there was total mismanagement regarding the sale of tickets. "I have been standing in the queue since four in the morning and the line has not moved at all. It seems that there is some major bungling and tickets are being sold from inside. We have been standing in the same place since morning," said Iqbal, a cricket fan. "Since the last two days we are coming and returning without tickets. The girls, who come here, are buying the tickets. We are here since the morning but there are no arrangements of the tickets," said Kailash, another cricket buff.

Jaipur will be hosting an international one-dayer after six years and the ticket sales have been reported to be brisk for the 26,000 capacity stadium. Cricket authorities admitted lack of proper management of ticket sales, adding, they would be better prepared next time. "I admit that more importance should be given to the common man and they should be accommodated. At the moment we cannot do anything. If we try to do something then there will be chaos. Hence for the next match we will be better prepared," said Pramod Joshi, secretary, Rajasthan Cricket Association. Meanwhile, the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur is preparing a wicket with a tinge of green for the third of the seven match series. India who lead the series 1-0, play the second match in Mohali on October 28.
