Stricture on politicians' overstay in Govt houses
New
Delhi: The Supreme Court today directed the Centre to
evict all politicians occupying government housing in the
Indian capital illegally. Targetting politicians and administrators
like Bihar Governor Buta Singh and veteran CPI-M leader Harkishan
Singh Surjeet, the apex court said that these leaders should
be thrown out of the government accomodations in the capital,
as they were defying rules and regulations. "Buta Singh is
a Governor of Bihar. How can he be occupying a house here.
Throw him out," a two-judge bench comprising Justice B N Agarwal
and Justice A K Mathur said specially mentioning him in the
order while hearing a PIL. Besides, Buta Singh, the court
perused the list which included three General Secretaries
of Congress, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister M S Yadav and former
Union ministers and BJP leader Rajnath Singh and Jaswant Singh.
The bench said that the law of eviction has become a total
failure and the lawmakers themselves are breaking the laws.
