Monday to have a rare partial lunar eclipse

New Delhi: People of India and several parts of the world will have a rare opportunity to witness an unforeseen partial lunar eclipse on Monday when the moon will get covered under it. The eclipse of the moon, the last for this year, would last for about one hour. It begins at (IST) 5:04 p.m. and ends 6:03, or (GMT) 11:34 a.m. to12.33 (GMT). The beginning of the partial phase of the eclipse would be visible from the eastern parts of the country, while skywatchers across India would be able to se an eclipsed moon. According to Amitabh Pande of Science Popularisation Association of Communicators and Educators, "the eclipse will not be very clearly visible as moon will pass through the penumbra of earth shadow (part of shadow in which images are not very sharp)".
