Uma Thurman to use her super powers (Go To Top)

Washington: 'Kill Bill' actress Uma Thurman is set to play a scorned lover in an upcoming romantic comedy 'Super Ex'. In the movie, which starts shooting in New York City later this month, Thurman will star opposite Luke Wilson, who dumps her, only to find that she has superpowers. "(She's) the female version of Superman for Manhattan. She's a little tough to be with in a relationship, so I break it off, and she starts using her superpowers against me. (Uma) seems tough, and when she does the girl thing being needy and clingy, it's funny because in person, she's not that way at all," Contactmusic quoted Wilson as saying. Meanwhile, Thurman is very excited to star in the film, and said that comedy is something she always wanted to do. "I'm playing a grouchy superhero a woman scorned. I've always wanted to do a comedy, and nobody ever let me. I've been banging down the door. I love to laugh. It saves my life on a daily basis," she was quoted as saying.

Keith sucked Kirstent's mum's fingers (Go To Top)

Washington: While millions are charmed by 'Spiderman-2' actress Kirsten Dunst, 'Rolling Stones' rocker Keith Richards had such a strong attraction towards the star's mum that he sucked her fingers several years ago. Richards was getting on a plane when he saw Dunst's German mother, Inez, who was a flight attendant for Lufthansa, and started sucking on her fingers and told her that he'd get his bags off the plane. "My mom was a flight attendant for 10 years for Lufthansa; she worked the air and the ground. She spoke English really well and German really well, so she dealt with all the celebrities and rock stars. Once Keith Richards was getting on the plane and he saw my mom and he started, like, sucking on her fingers and told her that he'd get his bags off the plane," Ratethemusic quoted Dunst as saying. "She was working the ground, she took his ticket and I guess he was just into her. He was like, 'Bird, let me get my bags off the plane, bird,' and like hook up that night. I mean, she didn't do it... (But) My mom's an embellisher, so who knows if that even went down," she added.

Moving print adverts to become a reality (Go To Top)

London: Concert tickets, magazine adverts and cereal packets could feature interactive moving graphics by 2007, according to German electronics giant Siemens. Researchers at the firm have developed a printable interactive display with a similar thickness to paper. "A pillbox could display instructions for how [the pills] should be taken and provide this information in several languages with the push of a button," Siemens spokesman Norbert Aschenbrenner, was quoted by Newscientist, as saying. "Admission tickets for trade shows could indicate the booths where various exhibitors are located," he added. The prototype screen is monochrome and can switch between its two colours in less than half a second. A working model, revealed at the Plastic Electronics 2005 conference in Frankfurt, Germany, in October, also has a controller. By scrolling through a list of companies, the user can bring up maps for each one's location on the screen. The screen works faster and has a higher resolution than previous prototypes. It is also simpler and cheaper to produce than "electronic paper" devices, which act more like scroll-down displays, and must be connected to a computer. The new display can be used independently with just a battery.

Developer Axel Gerlt says it is possible to print several different monochrome patches onto the same display to create a more vivid moving picture. Eventually, he says, it should be feasible to create a multicoloured display. The display consists of a layer of electrochromic material sandwiched between two electrode layers. The material changes from one colour to another when stimulated by an electric current. The top electrode layer is made from transparent plastic, so the display can be seen clearly through it. The display is controlled by a printed circuit and can be powered by a very thin printable battery or a photovoltaic cell. The goal is to be able to create the entire device - the display and its power source - using the same printing method, so that manufacturing costs would be as low as possible. Siemens expects to achieve this by 2007.

Chauffeur-driven car for Mariah Carey's dog (Go To Top)

London: Pop star Mariah Carey dispatched her chauffeur to drive her pampered pooch Jack Russell 3,000 miles across America, after it was forbidden to fly first class with her. The Butterfly beauty was very upset when the airline authorities told her that her beloved dog was "too big", and "not famous enough" to join her in the executive cabin of the flight to Los Angeles. "They said, 'We'd only allow it for a famous dog.' Please! He has three websites dedicated to him," Femalefirst quoted her as saying. However, the diva was soon re-united with her pet, as Jack was chauffeur-driven to Los Angeles in her car.

Dominic Monaghan to shop for suits in India (Go To Top)

Washington: While most of the Hollywood celebrities prefer design houses in Europe for their immaculate dressing, the Lord of the Rings star, "Dominic Monaghan", is planning to travel to India, in order to fulfil his desire of stocking up on some best customized suits. The smart-dressed Germany native has reportedly admitted that he has a bit of a fetish for quality suits, and had heard that he can get the best suits made in India at a very cost-effective price. "You can get tailor-made suits there. They're cheap. Two or three suits are about $400 - the suit and the tie, the shirt," Contactmusic quoted the actor as saying. Monaghan, who is currently starring in the hugely popular and Emmy winning series "Lost", claims to have a collection of approximately 30 to 40 suits.
