Maria Sharapova has a stalker at Wimbledon (Go To Top)

     London: Russian tennis ace Maria Sharapova has revealed that she will never venture out alone on the grounds of Wimbledon, after the All England Club confirmed that she is being stalked by a British man. According to the Telegraph, the man has been banned from the club's grounds for previously lunging at her during a tournament in America. 'I'm always with somebody. I always feel safe. If I was worried every step I was taking, I don't think I would be walking around," ' Sharapova said. The Russian teenager said she was not worried about the threat from stalkers and felt "safe and secure" walking around Wimbledon. But she admitted that she would not feel comfortable being on her own. Sharapova said she was unaware that a man had been barred from entering the All England Club, and that his photograph had been circulated to police and security staff. "I haven't heard anything about that. I don't read the papers or anything," she added. Sharapova also revealed that although she was not happy having bodyguards with her, she understood the need for a high level of security.

     London: Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova who took Wimbledon by storm last year, has more than her Grand Slam title to defend this year, as the teenage sensation is planning to get extra security for her shoes decorated with studs of 18- carat gold. She disclosed that she had 10 pairs of the shoes, which have been designed for her by Nike, and cost between "600 dollars and 900 dollars" per pair. "My shoes have 18-carat gold on the sides. That is something totally different. They shine unbelievably, and hopefully that can distract my opponents a little. There's nothing too valuable that I'm going to leave in the locker-room, except my shoes," she was quoted by the Telegraph, as saying. "I am going to ask the locker-room attendant to get me a safe for the shoes," she added. Sharapova said that she was excited about her dress, which will be pleated at the bottom and "pretty covered-up at the top". "It's not as important to look good as it is to feel good. I've always loved fashion, and I've always loved to be different. "I love to feel good in what I'm wearing. If you feel that something is wrong, or not quite right, then obviously that can affect you on court," Sharapova said.

India's most wanted paedophile does'nt interest UK cops (Go To Top)

     London: Even after 19 days of having entered Britain, India's most wanted paedophile and charity worker Duncan Grant is yet to be questioned by the police here. Fifty-four-year-old Grant, against whom an international warrant of arrest has been issued by Interpol, walked freely back into this country on June 1 after being deported from Tanzania. Police failed to arrest Grant after his flight was delayed despite being notified of his imminent arrival by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. According to The Daily Telegraph, Grant is presently staying at his sister's house in south London, and the police are yet to get in touch with him. Grant's sister is Conservative councillor in London. When contacted by the paper, she refused to answer the door, but agreed to communicate through the intercom. She claimed she had neither seen nor spoken to her brother since his return to Britain. Grant denies all charges against him. However, police officers in India have confirmed that he remains "very much wanted" to stand trial over allegations made by five street boys in Mumbai that he sexually abused them in 2001. Grant would only be returned to India to face trial once a British extradition court was satisfied that there was a prima facie case for him to answer.

Leonardo DiCaprio survives beer bottle assault (Go To Top)

     London: Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio was rushed to the hospital after a drunken woman reportedly attacked him with a beer bottle. The actor required 12 stitches for the wound in his head. He was attacked early on Friday as he left a party at the Hollywood Hills home of Paris Hilton's ex Rick Solomon. "While leaving a small private gathering, Leo was attacked by a woman who was trespassing and had been repeatedly asked to leave," DiCaprio's publicist Ken Sunshine was quoted by the Dailymail, as saying. "The attacker struck him with a glass object before being restrained by witnesses. The woman was reportedly looking for an ex-boyfriend whom she had apparently physically assaulted on prior occasions," he added. "It was a totally unprovoked attack. Leo was behaving himself and this woman just attacked him for no reason," a source close to the star said. The actor, who is currently filming gangster thriller The Departed with Jack Nicholson, was driven to hospital for treatment and later released.

     London: Denzel Washington and Samuel L Jackson have a reason to celebrate. According to The Mirror, the two have been voted the two best black actors ever in a poll run by New Nation - Britain's most respected black newspaper. Readers voted for past and present TV and film stars from around the world. Morgan Freeman came third while Sidney Poitier, Sophie Okonedo, and Adrian Lester also made it to the list. "I am pleased there are so many Brits. At last, they have the respect they deserve," New Nation editor, Michael Eboda was quoted as saying.

     London: Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie has revealed that she loves to spend a lot of time by herself because it helps her develop as a person. The Mr & Mrs Smith actress spends most of her time with her son Maddox, and she confessed that she meets new people on her own terms, rather than following a crowd. "I don't have a lot of friends. I've been alone a lot. You know what it is? I think when you're alone, when you go someplace and you're by yourself, you end up meeting new people and you develop," Jolie was quoted by Femalefirst, as saying. "I think people who travel in a pack don't often end up meeting new people," she added.

     New York: Latino beauty Jennifer Lopez is so accustomed to a luxurious lifestyle, that she is reportedly throwing tantrums on the sets of the low budget movie Bordertown. Lopez who is shooting in Mexico for the film, as a favour to director Gregory Nava, has demanded a luxury motor home and a private villa. "She doesn't realise this is an independent movie - as in no studio is attached - and there is no one to pay her outrageous bills," an insider was quoted by Contactmusic, as saying to the New York Post. Lopez reportedly also insisted that her hairdresser Orbie's 10,000 dollars charges be paid by the producers of the movie. "The s**t is going to hit the fan when she is told no one can pay for Oribe... (Co-star) Antonio Banderas isn't asking for anything, but she is!" the source added.

Dicaprio rules out role in Aviator sequel  (Go To Top)

     London: Leonardo Dicaprio might have won an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Howard Hughes in The Aviator, but he has no plans of starring in its sequel. According to Femalefirst, he is convinced the story of Hughes' later life is too dark and he would find it hard to portray the fallout after Hughes' severe mental breakdown. "It would certainly make a great stage play, a one-man show. I think that's the reason that movie never got made. It is such a sinister, dark period in the man's life and you're dealing with the aftermath of a man's mental breakdown, as opposed to a man battling with those forces and trying to suppress them," Dicaprio was quoted as saying.

     Sydney: Yesteryears bombshell and ex Bond girl Jane Seymour has still not lost her sex appeal. The 54 years old actress and mother of six has dared to go topless on screen for the first time for her comeback flick Wedding Crashers. "I have never done anything quite like this and it seemed a little insane to be doing it now that I'm in my 50s," Seymour was quoted by the Daily Telegraph, as saying. "But I wanted to appeal to this generation. The script was the funniest thing I'd ever read. I thought the topless scene in particular was the funniest moment in the whole movie. Despite my anxiety I recognised this to be a great role," she added Producers confirmed Jane beat off scores of other "older" actresses, including Raquel Welch, to win the part of a seductress who tries to make love to a boy young enough to be her son.

     London: Cashing in on the alleged affair between Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie a Los Angeles store has come up with T shirts bearing 'Team Aniston' and 'Team Jolie' slogans. According to Femalefirst, Kitson are selling these T-shirts so customers can pledge allegiance to their favourite star. The tees have been so popular that there is a three month waiting list with Aniston selling the most. The trendy store also sells various celebrity fashions ranges including Victoria Beckham's VB jeans range for Rock and Republic and Nicky Hilton's new Chick fashion range, Juicy Couture jewellery, cosmetics and accessories.

     Washington: Warner Bros is reportedly planning to remake all the Batman movies, with Christian Bale essaying the title role in all of them. "Everyone is in agreement that the movie's strength is with Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman," the New York Post quoted an insider as saying. The source also informed that Tom Cruise's girlfriend and the actress of the new film 'Batman Begins', Katie Holmes, may not be seen in the sequel. "She won't be in the sequel . . . the next romantic interest will be a much stronger actress. Warner is happy that people are now focusing on who'll be playing the Joker rather than Katie and Tom," the source said.

According to Femalefirst, Beckham tops Usher's list of fashionable men. "He is one of the guys I have always recognised for his unique style. I put him in my League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. He has a great demeanour about him and it speaks through his clothes as well as his choice of jewellery. He is the smartest gentleman to me," Usher was quoted as saying.
