Jolie to play sexy temptress in the epic 'Beowulf' (Go To Top)

     Washington: Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie may be moving from real life to reel life, as the actress is all set to play a temptress in a new epic from director Robert Zemeckis. Jolie will be starring in the big-budget adaptation of the epic medieval tale Beowulf, reports Eonline. The movie also stars Ray Winstone as the viking hero who saves his land from the clutches of the terrible monster Grendel (Glover). Along the way to becoming king, the great warrior is tempted to commit evil by Grendel's mother played by Jolie. Like his previous picture, The Polar Express, Zemeckis plans to shoot Beowulf using state-of-the-art performance-capture technology that will allow him to animate the actors and create computer-generated landscapes to depict the fantastical action and settings described in the poem.

Yodelling healthier than Yoga (Go To Top)

     London: Now Yodelling courses are being offered online after scientists claimed it was healthier than yoga or jogging. The study, carried out by scientists at Graz University, found that yodelling eased tension and stress by releasing endorphins, as well as giving lungs a healthy workout. Austrian tourism officials started offering yodelling courses and were astounded by the massive demand with places booked up weeks in advance. Hermann Haertel, a professional yodeller who runs a course in Graz, believes that the time is long overdue for a revival. "Yodelling is alive again in the Alps - it is the music of the mountains. To yodel one needs to use all one's energy," he was quoted by Ananova, as saying. "It is a powerful cry that comes from the soul, and once you start it becomes addictive," he added.

Keira Knightley credits her success to her stars (Go To Top)

     London: 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actress Keira Knightley has no airs about herself, she credits her screen success to pure luck. The actress reckons that her success has nothing to do with talent or beauty because she doesn't have a great deal of either. "It's about luck. I'm not the most talented around - and I'm not the most beautiful either," she was quoted by Now magazine, as saying. "I'm simply lucky to have been in movies that have worked. Their success hasn't really had much to do with the fact I was in them," she added.

Eminem in rehab over sleeping pill addiction (Go To Top)

    Washington: Rapper Eminem has confirmed that he is undergoing treatment in a drug rehabilitation centre for dependency on sleeping pills. "Eminem is in hospital under doctors' care. He is being treated for dependency on sleep medication," E!Online quoted the singer's publicist, Dennis Dennehy, as saying. Dennehy, however, refused to give more information about the star. Meanwhile, Star magazine also reported that the rapper, accompanied by two bodyguards, had checked in to a facility in his native Michigan on Tuesday. That was the same day Dennehy released a statement announcing the cancellation of the 10-date European leg of the rapper's Anger Management 3 tour.

Wanted: Sexy sirens to boost sagging Brit soccer morale (Go To Top)

     London: A desperate search is on to lift the sagging morale of the English football team before the 2006 World Cup. Brylcreem, Britain's leading male hairstyling brand, has launched a nation-wide talent hunt for a cheerleading squad. According to The Sun, the sexy pom pom girls will be judged on looks and their knowledge of the game, besides their ball skills. After a regional and national audition, the final Brylcreem England Cheerleaders will be officially unveiled early next year. They will then meet up with skipper Lauren for plenty of training and a UK tour of football grounds. The competition requires a person applying to post her photograph, a letter explaining why she should be a cheerleader and a description of the offside rule in less than 50 words.

Paris Hilton to marry in Greece (Go To Top)

     London: Hotel heiress Paris Hilton, who is dating Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, has revealed that she will walk down the aisle in Greece. Hilton made her way to the country last month to find the perfect location for their wedding, and after a long search and weeks of socialising, she returned to the US satisfied with her final decision. "(Paris and I) are really happy. We had an amazing summer in Europe together. Everything's amazing. We were looking all over Greece and we found some really beautiful places. Right now I'm finishing up work and then we'll do the wedding," the Sun quoted Hilton as saying to Access Hollywood.

    London: Hollywood star Brad Pitt has been named the Sexiest Man on the Planet in a new poll by Company magazine. Britney's Morrocan themed baby shower (Go To Top)

    London: Pop singer Britney Spears hosted an emotional Moroccan-themed baby shower with just weeks to go before giving birth. Her guests were welcomed into a bamboo tent set up in front of her Malibu home, where they walked barefoot through thousands of rose petals. "I wanted it to be really intimate with just my closest girlfriends and family members," said the pop princess, was quoted by the Sun, as saying. "The night was everything I envisioned." A cake in the shape of a Moroccan pot with a baby peeking out topped off the extravagant meal. Britney's presents included a white wrought-iron bassinet from her mum, Lynne, a car seat, a stroller, an infant bathtub and lots of stuffed animals. "Everyone really outdid themselves," the singer told People magazine. "Even the packaging on some of the gifts was heartfelt. "I truly couldn't have been happier to share this day with people who are so close to my heart," she added. While everyone wrote personal messages in a book, Britney's mother and mother-in-law made emotional toasts. However Spear's hubby Kevin Federline was only present for a brief time during the entire ceremony.

    London: Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson recently hosted a wedding ceremony on a California beach for her two pet dogs. Proud Pammy wore white to witness golden retriever Star and chihuahua Luca Pizzaroni Pasquini exchanging bow-wow vows in front of 20 bemused guests. "To say it was ridiculous is an understatement. Even the dogs looked disturbed," an onlooker was quoted by the Mirror, as saying.
