Madonna's Israel visit draws the flak from Jews and Palestinians

         London: Israel might be preparing to honour Madonna for her devotion to Kabbalah, the cult which has its roots in Jewish scriptures, but the pop singer's visit to the country for a five-day spiritual fest for the Jewish New Year, which began last night, is already marred by controversies. According to the Telegraph, Madonna's pilgrimage has aroused anger amongst the Palestinians ,who have accused Madonna of neglecting their plight, as well as the Jews who find her 'religiously insensitive'. The protestants, reports the paper are particularly enraged about Madonna's visit to Rachel's Tomb, the Bethlehem shrine where a security barrier is being erected for Madge's protection. This has angered the Palestinians living in the area, who believe that the barrier is a mere guise being used by the Israeli authorities to capture their land and legitimise the occupation. "Rachel's Tomb has become a symbol of our misery. What they are doing when they come here to the tomb is endorsing the misery," Michel Nasser, a Palestinian leader of Bethlehem's Christian community, was quoted by the paper as saying.

           New York: Britney Spears, who will reportedly become Mrs. Kevin Federline in next 20 days, wants Kevin to gift her some lingerie for their wedding. Speaking to 'The Insider' showbiz reporter Steven Cojocaru, in a TV interview, the pop diva revealed some of her wedding secrets, including what wedding gift she expects and her plans for a tropical beach honeymoon. When asked what gift Kevin could buy for her for the wedding, "Lingerie. Gimme some lingerie," the bride-to-be replied. "It's my dream come true. It's going to be my fairytale dream wedding," a beaming Britney said in the interview. "If you're in love and you know, go for it.He's this person that I go to and it's just like, 'Hah.' He just makes you feel stable and sane and he gives you love too, so that's not bad," she added.

          London: A new poll conducted by the Daily Mail has revealed that the 1987 classic 'Dirty Dancing' is the all time favourite movie for Britons. Starring Aussie actor Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, the movie centred around a naove young girl who falls in love with her dance teacher. The romantic flick beat legendary movies like 'The Godfather' and 'The Lord of the Rings,' which also made it to the list of the ten best movies ever. The top ten all time favourites were: 1.          London: History repeated itself a la Nipplegate, as 'Rolling Stone' legend Keith Richards' daughter Alexandra bared her bust to the audience while sashaying down the ramp during the New York Fashion Week. According to The Sun, Alexandra was joined by her famous guitarist father in New York for the Buddhist Punk fashion show. Pop star Janet Jackson had created a furore a couple of months back by baring her breast during a performance in the Super Bowl.

Zeta Jones's stalker charged on 25 criminal counts (Go To Top)

       Washington: Dawnette Knight, the 33-year old woman accused of stalking and sending death threats to actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, will stand trial on 25 criminal counts against her, a Los Angeles Court announced yesterday. According to E Online, the judges took the decision after the police found conclusive evidence that the telephone death threats made to the 'Chicago' star had come from Knight's Beverly Hills home, including a death threat to the actress at her hotel while she was on location in Europe. Knight has pleaded not guilty and remains restrained in a Los Angeles jail with bail set at 1 million dollars. If found guilty on all charges, she could receive a ten-year prison sentence. Knight has, meanwhile, claimed that she had had an affair with Zeta Jones' actor husband Michael Douglas and that she was 'obsessed' with him.

          Sydney: Hollywood star Nicole Kidman has been named as Australia's 'richest young woman', according to BRW magazine's young rich list. The stunning 'Cold Mountain' star has a fortune estimated at 155 Australian dollars (108 million US dollars). Supermodel Elle McPherson and pop diva Kylie Minogue were tied in third place on the list with 60 million Australian dollars each.

Angelina Jolie's cathartic talk with Billy Bob Thornton (Go To Top)

          London: "Tomb Raider" actress Angelina Jolie is on speaking terms with her ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton again. "Nobody actually knows, but Billy and I speak now. We began a few months ago with one of the most beautiful conversations two people could have. We talked about how much we said and didn't really mean," the Premiere magazine quoted Jolie as saying. The star couple had married in 2000 after a whirlwind courtship, but divorced in 2003 following irreconcilable differences.

          London: Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony are barely talking to each other these days it seems! According to the Daily Star, Lopez is reportedly angry with Anthony for not spending time with her, and had warned him that she would not attend his events, unless he apologises for his arguments during their rows. "Jennifer has always supported Marc when he performs and in the past has been to all of his shows. But she wants him to give her the same support and spend more time with her away from his music," an insider was quoted as saying.
