Dougray Scott tipped to be the new James Bond (Go To Top)

         London: Dougray Scott, whose claim to fame are roles in 'Mission Impossible 2' and 'Enigma' will most likely be the new James Bond, leaving behind hot contenders like Eric Bana, Clive Owen and Ioan Gruffud, according to the Sunday Mirror. The actor has been reportedly chosen for the role, as he has the same aura as Sean Connery, the actor who immortalised the role of the suave agent 007 in the sixties Scott, if he bags the role, will be the seventh actor to play Bond on the big screen for the 23rd Bond film, slated for release next year. "Producers have been eager to take Bond back to the broody and sexy figure that Sean was so brilliant at," an insider was quoted as saying. "Obviously it's not possible for Sean to return at his age, so they have been looking for a young actor with similar characteristics," he added.

Posh and Becks hope candlelight will set it right (Go To Top)

          London: Victoria and David Beckham have sought to play down rumours that their marriage is on the rocks by sharing a cozy candlelight dinner at Madrid's Ritz hotel, this weekend. According to The Sun, the couple left their sons Brooklyn Romeo with David's mum Sandra for a tete- a- tete in a private room. The date was reportedly also to celebrate Beckham's scoring the winning goal for Real Madrid in a match, on Saturday. Becks had celebrated by waving at the VIP box and later dedicated the free kick to his family, saying that, "I'm dedicating that goal to my family because after I scored I looked up and saw them all celebrating. I saw my wife, sons and cousins. That was special."

         London: Soccer star David Beckham who is reportedly a basketball freak and idolizes Michael Jordan, has got his body heavily tattooed, in an effort to emulate a trend among NBA stars. According to The Sun, the star who is reportedly obsessed with the game also denied rumours that he was on the verge of a breakdown after facing severe criticism. "I will never crack. When you get criticised, some people go the other way. But my way is to come out fighting," he was quoted as saying.

Nicole Kidman lashes out at critics for paedophile accusations (Go To Top)

         Washington: Oscar winner Nicole Kidman has said that the accusations by film critics that her character in her new movie, 'Birth," has paedophile overtones, are disgusting and horrible. Critics have slammed her character in 'Birth," which premiered at the Venice film Festival recently, because she is shown to be sharing a bath with a 10 year old boy and having a discussion of a sexual nature with him. According to Female First, Nicole defended her character in the film, which centres around a young boy who is convinces Nicole that he is the incarnation of her dead husband, saying that she has no sexual feelings towards the young boy. She also said that she is sickened by the critics reviews because she has a 10-year old son and would never play a character like that. The Australian actress explained that the relationship between the character, Anna, and the boy is not about sexual attraction but about belief in the appearance of Anna's dead partner.

Johnny Depp bans his kids from his raunchy movie (Go To Top)

         London: 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star Johnny Depp has banned his children from watching his latest film 'The Libertine' because there is too much of sex in it. Johnny, who plays a sex-crazed poet in the movie, said in good humour that his two children, aged two and six, will have to wait at least 40 years before he allows them to see it. "When I was approached to do 'Finding Neverland' it was certainly a plus being a film my kids could watch," femalefirst quoted Johnny as saying at the Venice film festival. "But I think they'll have to wait to see 'The Libertine', something like 40 years. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone under say - well my children are two and six - so let's say 26," he added.

Madonna hires 30 pounds room for hubby's birthday bash (Go To Top)

         London: Pop diva Madonna recently celebrated her hubby's 36th birthday in London's Punch and Bowl pub, sans the trappings of her celebrity status. No stars were reportedly invited and local ale replaced champagne in the Irish themed party. According to The Sun the 'Frozen' star paid a meagre 30 pounds for hiring a room for the twenty odd guests, and arranged for local ale to spice up the party along with an Irish band. "The party was great fun but not the type of do you'd expect Madonna to organise," a source was quoted as saying. "She could've hired the Ritz and had champagne flowing all night but she knows what Guy likes. Guy said it was the best night out he's had in ages," he added.

         Washington: A sexy and violent video game character took away the top honours at the box office this week, as the movie 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse' emerged as the highest grossing flick, followed closely by Kim Basinger's kidnap drama 'Cellular.' Saying 'Nit-picking' can brand you a racist (Go To Top)

         London: Taking political correctness to new heights, government employees in Britain have been told that they should desist from using the words 'nit-picking' and 'brainstorming,' because they are insulting the minority and handicapped sections of society. According to the Sun, while 'nit-picking' was termed racist because it originated from the slave trade, the term 'brainstorming' was deemed objectionable because it might be offensive to the mentally ill. However, the regulations have created quite a stir, with some officials calling the ban simply absurd. "It's political correctness gone mad," the report quoted a Tory Election candidate as saying.

Zeta Jones death threat phone card seized (Go To Top)

        London: A phone card that was allegedly used to make death threats to Catherine Zeta Jones has been recovered from her alleged stalker Dwanette Knight's wardrobe during a raid on her apartment. According to the Mirror, detectives have seized 28 items from Knight's Beverly Hills home, including a copy of Kirk Douglas's autobiography that was signed by his son Michael and Zeta Jones. Knight, who is accused of threatening to kill Zeta Jones, 34, and stalking her husband Michael Douglas, faces a 19 years long prison term if found guilty.
