`Blue-eyed' Barbie dethroned by 'cosmopolitan' Bratz dolls

         London: Every little girl's fantasy Barbie has been replaced as the best-selling doll in Britain by the Bratz dolls, renowned for their passion for fashion. "The key to the success of Bratz is we're dealing with the post- Spice Girls generation," The Sun quoted Nick Austin, boss of Vivid Imaginations, which markets the Bratz dolls, as saying. "Little girls aren't sugar and spice anymore. Barbie is a white blue-eyed girl and Bratz are more cosmopolitan," he added. The range of ten-and-a half-inch-high stylish plastic dolls are the first to end Barbie's 44 years of monopoly in the toy market.

         Washington: Film star Gwyneth Paltrow has reportedly threatened the paparazzi with legal action if they continue to follow her on London's roads. The Oscar-winner, who is the wife of British singer Chris Martin, has complained that the photographers' actions are endangering the safety of their daughter, Apple. "In London, they chase you in cars, and I will start pressing charges because they are endangering me by the way they drive. It's really scary. It's just unacceptable, especially when there's a life of a small baby in your hands," USA today quoted Paltrow as saying.

          New York: Hotel Heiress Paris Hilton seems to have made a mark in the literary arena with her new book being lapped up from store shelves. According to New York Daily News, the 179-page book titled "Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose" details 23 rules for How to Be an Heiress. It has been published by Simon & Schuster which already has 115,000 copies of it in print. "I take my dog, Tinkerbell seriously. I take my work seriously. But I don't take myself all that seriously. Never be too easy. If you're too easy, a guy knows he has you," Paris is quoted in the book as saying. "Tt doesn't hurt to act rich as well as hot. I've found it to be a fairly unbeatable combination. Who's a guy going to go for: a girl who's gorgeous, or a girl who's gorgeous and rich?," she adds.

          Sydney: Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins seems to be having a spate of embarrassing moments, recently her skirt slipped during a fashion show in Sydney and now the lovely lass tripped over stairs during a gondola ride. According to news.com Hawkins dressed in a knee-length black dress, lost her balance while descending from the stairs and fell, however she managed to hold her dress in place avoiding any further embarrassing situations. "Oh my God, what's my luck," the Newcastle beauty was quoted as saying as she tried do laugh off the incident. "Can I just say it was raining in Melbourne today," she added.

          London: Welsh Beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones traumatised for being endlessly stalked, can now breath a sigh of relief as the judge hearing the criminal case against her alleged stalker has ruled her fit for trial. According to Eonline, the Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John Shepard Wiley Jr. stated that following the verdict of a court- appointed psychiatrist who had established Dawnette Knight's sanity, it has been decided that she was liable to be hauled up for the charges levelled against her. Charges on Knight had earlier been dropped upon assertions by her counsel Richard Herman that she was insane and therefore unable to comprehend the charges levelled against her. However, with her sanity now having been proved, she is liable to be prosecuted on 24 charges of stalking and making criminal threats against Zones, that could send her for several years behind the bars.

          London: Hollywood star Nicole Kidman has revealed that she is not comfortable sharing her acting method secrets with anyone and wants to keep them to herself from now on. "I think if you reveal anything too much about anything to do with the performance you're stripping it away, so I don't like to reveal anything that I use, even psychologically," Nicole was quoted as saying at a press conference in Venice. "I'm trying to do less of that now. Other films that I'm made I've spoken freely about all sorts of things and I feel like it does somehow demystify the process," she added. The 'Cold Mountain' actress is famous for getting into the skin of her screen characters. She has won an Oscar for her performance in 'The Hours' and has been lauded for her role in 'Moulin Rouge'.

          London: Thirty people participated in the world's biggest nude roller-coaster ride on Nemesis at Alton Towers, London, which will soon be aired on ITV1's '50 Years, 50 Records'. The nude participants clung on for two corkscrews, a 104ft dive and two 50mph flips. "It was the maddest thing I've done," The Sun quoted the 21-year- old Krystle as saying. "I was nervous, but it was fun," added the 22-year-old Leah.
