New York Most people are scared of ghosts and boogeymen, but Oscar winner Lisa Minelli has a horror of different kind as was recently revealed when she refused to go to a fans birthday party because the venue was decorated with balloons. According to the New York Daily News, the actress cum singer was invited to a birth day party but she refused to go in while confessing her fear of the sound of balloons bursting. But the birthday girl decided to get rid of all the balloons,' the report quoted the bar owner as saying.

Charles says children can be introduced to alcohol very young (Go To Top)

London: If you have been wondering about what must have spurred Prince Harry to get drunk and lash out at a photographer, maybe the fact that his father Prince Charles sees nothing wrong in introducing alcohol to children could begin to explain it. According to The Sun, Prince Charles recently visited an Italian vineyard, and one of the first things he asked the owners, was if they had introduced their young children to alcohol. In fact, he even had advised them to add water to the wine so that it would be mild enough for the kids to drink. "Have you started your children on wine? You can always put water in it. The French start their children very young," the report quoted him as saying to Beppe Accomo and his wife Loredana, the owners of the vineyard.

New protein linked to cancer recovery discovered (Go To Top)

Washington: A new study, by researchers at the University of Texas, has found that the presence of a protein called Rab25 is to a large extent responsible for how well women react to treatment for ovarian and breast cancer. The study, which will be published in the journal Nature Medicine studied tumor samples to outcomes in about 100 patients diagnosed with either breast or ovarian cancer and found that a low level of Rab25 protein on a patient's cancer sample was associated with a better clinical outcome in both cancer types. Patients with early stage (I and II) ovarian cancer who had low Rab25 tumor _expression had an 80 percent survival five years after treatment, compared to 50 percent survival if Rab25 expression was high. In women with advanced breast cancer, a low level of Rab25 protein expression was associated with a 60 percent five-year survival, compared to 40 percent if Rab25 protein expression was high. The researchers are now saying that adding this protein to other known molecular markers of progression could contribute to a highly predictive test of outcome in breast or ovarian cancer. The study also found that Rab25 is involved in deciding whether those internalized cell surface receptors will either be degraded or will be returned to the cell surface. According to the researchers Rab25 is deciding the fate of those whose case is related to cell growth. "If you had more growth receptor going back to the surface instead of being degraded, you would have increased signaling, and more cell proliferation. But that working hypothesis has not yet been proven," the report quoted Gordon Mills, the lead author of the study, as saying.
