Bharti, BCCI and SET
New
Delhi: Acting upon a petition filed by ZEE TV seeking
telecast right for upcoming India-Australia and India- South
Africa cricket Test matches, the Supreme Court today directed
Prasar Bharti, Set Satellite Pvt Ltd, and BCCI to maintain
proper accounts of the revenue received from the telecast
of these matches. The apex court deferred the hearing on
the application, saying it would first decide the maintainability
of ZEE's writ petition. ZEE TV had moved to the Supreme
Court to resume hearing on its petition, challenging cancellation
of tender process for award of telecast right of all matches
held in India between 2004 and 2008. BCCI had initially
awarded the telecast rights to ZEE after it emerged as the
highest bidder with its bid of Rs.308 crores, but later
scrapped the tender.
