London:
Johnny Depp's latest movie Finding Neverland might be
a treat for his fans but not for Peter Pan writer, JM Barrie's
family, who find it offending. According to Ananova, the
author's family is agitated over the authenticity of the
film, since it claims to be a "fictional retelling" of Barrie's
life, although the biopic is based on real people. The onscreen
relationship between Barrie and his wife Sylvia, played
by Kate Winslet has come under fire. The movie depicts her
first meeting with Barrie shortly after the death of her
husband, although in reality her spouse Arthur Llewelyn
Davies was still alive. "It's a pity they didn't stick to
the facts. Films have a habit of rewriting history. People
rewrite even slightly the story or a character and often
the family find it's not the person they remember or know
about," Sylvia's great-niece Lady Tessa Montgomery was quoted
as saying.
