'National Treasure' sweeps box office (Go To Top)

      New York: Despite getting poor reviews ,'National Treasure' managed to conjure up 35.2 million dollars at the box office to become the number one movie this weekend. According to the figure estimates released by Exhibitor Relations, the 'SpongeBobSquarePants Movie', came at the second spot with its figures estimated at 33.5 million dollars. According to the estimated figures, the top 10 movies for the weekend are: 1. National Treasure, 35.2 million dollars 2. The SpongeBobSquarePants Movie, 33.5 million dollars 3. The Incredibles, 26.7 million dollars 4. The Polar Express, 15.2 million dollars 5. Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, 10.1 million dollars 6. After the Sunset, 5.2 million dollars 7. Ray, 4.6 million dollars 8. The Grudge, 3.8 million dollars 9. Seed of Chucky, 3.1 million dollars 10. Saw, 3 million dollars

Renee Zellweger was a bar maid before stardom (Go To Top)

      London: The road to fame wasn't a cake walk for Bridget Jones star Renee Zellweger, who used to work as a bar maid before she hit stardom. The actress has revealed that she worked as a maid in a bar for three years while she waited for a break in Hollywood, after arriving in LA from Texas. "I didn't want to go to LA and say, 'Here I am', because the truth is that no one really cares. That's the toughest part of acting. You feel you have something to give, but who'll give you a chance?" Femalefirst quoted her as saying. "I got a job stocking a bar and cleaning up after young Hollywood. I carried cases of beer and stocked the freezer. Then I landed some acting work and managed to keep busy, but I was never well off," she added.

John Lennon voted greatest music icon of all time (Go To Top)

      London: 'Beatles' legend John Lennon has been voted the greatest music artist of all time in a poll conducted by Q magazine. Lennon, who sang classics like 'Imagine' and 'Jealous Guy,' pipped the king of rock & roll, Elvis Presley to make it to the top stop, while 'Ziggy Stardust' singer David Bowie was voted the third greatest music icon, reports Female First. A fifth of all Britons are shoplifters  (Go To Top)

     London: A shocking new survey by Group 4 Securicor has revealed that British retailers had better be more careful with their customers, as one fifth of all Britons have admitted to having shoplifted at least once. According to The Mirror, Britain has now been put down as the country where the highest amount shoplifting takes place in Europe after 7.7 million adults admitted to pilfering. Surprisingly enough 21 percent of the shoplifters also did not think that it was big problem and put it down as a 'passing phase.' It was also found that big stores were at a bigger threat of getting stolen from as not only did people find it easier to steal from big stores they also felt less guilty about it.

Roger Moore to play Bond again (Go To Top)

     London: Former James Bond star Sir Roger Moore will reportedly don the mantle of the 007 double agent once again, not to nab criminals this time but to help London bid to host the 2012 Olympics. The 77 year-old star will play the sophisticated spy in a video aimed at promoting the capital as the perfect location for the games while his lady love will be Samantha Bond who plays Miss Moneypenny. Moore and Bond join a host of London-born celebrities, including Dame Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons, Martine Mc Cutcheon and David Beckham, in the video, which aims to convince the International Olympic Committee, choose the British capital for the 2012 games.

Camilla gets mistress status at Charles residence (Go To Top)

     London: Prince Charles' longtime companion Camilla Parker Bowles took her place as the mistress of Clarence House for the first time during a State visit by the French President and his wife. According to The Mirror, Camilla welcomed the French President's wife Mdme Bernadette Chirac while Prince Charles showed Mdme Chirac, along with the British Ambassador to France and the French Ambassador in London, rooms he has lavishly restored. Camilla's presence is being seen as a step to being formally accepted as the Prince's partner. "The State occasion was hosted by the Prince of Wales himself. Other guests, as well as Mrs Parker Bowles, were waiting inside for the tour by Mdme Chirac," a Clarence House spokesman was quoted as saying.

Diana Hayden is in news again  (Go To Top)

     Mumbai: Nowadays former Miss World Diana Hayden insists on being in the news for some or the other reason. Earlier it was her playing Princess Diana in a forthcoming movie, and then it was her anti-men comments last week. And now it seems Hayden is poised for a double debut - both on the small and big screen at the same time. Her first movie in a lead role, director Rajesh Singh's Ab... Bas is releasing on November 26th, Hayden will also be seen in a television programme come November 27th. In this television programme Hong Kong Bollywood Odyssey has Hayden as its anchor. This television programme is a joint venture of AXN and the Hong Kong Tourism Board and it's show will take viewers to locations in Hong Kong where Bollywood movies have been shot.
