'Blair poodle' jibe has Bush in a spot  (Go To Top)

      Washington: US President George Bush was put in a spot for a moment on Friday, when he was asked by a political commentator whether the visiting British Prime Minister Tony Blair was his "poodle". According to The Mirror, both Bush and Blair laughed off the suggestion, with Blair going to the extent of saying that Bush had " better thinkof a good answer" for the question. Bush, quick on the repartee, described Blair as "a strong and capable man who stood for what he believed in." He further went on to say that the British PM was "big thinker with a clear vision," and added that the world needed leaders of such strength to resolve issues like the Israel-Palestine conflict and the situation in Iraq. He concluded by saying that the trans-Atlantic alliance between the United States and the United Kingdom was an absolute essentiality to ensure world security and a beneficial socio- economic partnership between the two continents.

Nicole Kidman wants to be a mom (Go To Top)

      London: Nicole Kidman is desperate to get pregnant before she gets too old to conceive. The actress, who already has two adopted kids, Isabella and Connor, has expressed a keen desire to have a baby of her own before it gets too late. "I'm not pregnant, but I would love to be. That's the kind of thing I hope happens at some stage before I get old," the Closer magazine quoted her as saying. However, prior to fulfilling her desire, Kidman is reportedly on the lookout for a new hubby, as she is a great believer in the instituion of marriage. "I don't know how it would be to consciously make the decision on my own - I don't know if I have the wherewithal for that.I would love to be married again. I'm still a huge believer in marriage. I like being married and I like having a family. I think there's something lovely about raising a child together."

Kate Winslet tops poll to play new Bridget Jones (Go To Top)

      London: Movie lovers have voted Kate Winslet as the next favourite to play Bridget Jones is Renee Zellweger happens to give up the role. In a poll conducted by the skymovies.com , 41 percent of the fans voted for the Titanic star to play the loveable singleton. Kate's curvy physique and her repeated denials to slim down seem to make her ideal to take on the Bridget role . Reese Witherspoon came second with 21 percent and Friends star Jennifer Aniston was the third choice with 14 percent votes.

Hugh feels no pressure to settle down with Jemima (Go To Top)

      London: Although Hugh Grant is reportedly quite besotted with his girlfriend Jemima Khan, he recently hinted that he does not plan on losing his bachelor status anytime soon. The 44-year old actor was asked if he feels like he is being forced to settle down by a journalist during the premiere of his latest movie 'Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason,' and he replied that he 'doesn't feel that pressure," reports Ananova. The actor also revealed that he is planning to quit movies as he is very bored of the whole film business by now.

Madonna enters America's 'most powerful Jews' list (Go To Top)

      London: Madonna's fascination for Kabbalah has earned her the 51st spot on the annual list of the most powerful and influential Jewish Americans in a Jewish weekly paper. However, J.J. Goldberg, the editor of The Forward paper, has defended the decision to include Madonna in the list. There are a lot of differences of opinion about the nature of the Jewish community - who's Jewish and who isn't. Some people who are not Jewish are married to Jews, or practicing Judaism. But we start with the assumption that this is not a simple matter," New York Daily News quoted him as saying. As for Madonna, "She's a practitioner of the Kabbala, so she's practicing Judaism, for Christ's sake! Well, not really for Christ's sake. But she's probably the world's best-known practitioner of Judaism right now," he added. However, Madonna's publicist Liz Rosenberg repeatedly advised The Forward that "it wouldn't be appropriate to include her on such a list" because Madonna "is not Jewish".

      New York: Madonna's dumped manager has been picked up by Ricky Martin as Caresse Henry, Madonna's longtime manager is now most likely to manage the Latin singer's affairs. According to the New York Post, Henry was dumped by Madge last week, will soon be managing Martin, who has been without a manager since parting ways with Benny Medina earlier this month. "He has a new album coming out, is planning a tour and has a lot of movie and television potential. Madonna wasn't doing anything," Henry was quoted by the paper, as saying.

      London: Pop icon Madonna seems to be taking a break from her singing career to turn into a children's author and story-teller. The 46-years old mother of two, who has already written four children's books with a fifth one in the offing, recently thrilled her young fans as she visited their school to read out an excerpt from her book 'The Adventures Of Abdi," which is based on a young follower of the religion Kabbalah. According to Hello magazine, the 'Frozen' singer is also writing a book which will tell children that money cant buy happiness. The book called 'Lotsa De Casha,' will centre around a spoilt, rich Italian greyhound who has all the money in the world but no happiness. "All the characters in the book will be animals and Lotsa de Casha is an Italian greyhound who is very rich but very unhappy. He thinks only of himself," the report quoted her publisher Nicholas Callaway as saying.

      London: Rocker Tommy Lee has revealed that when it comes to relationships, he prefers plump women any day as they are usually wilder and more willing. According to Female First, the 'Motley Crue' drummer who has previously been married to model Heather Locklear and 'Baywatch' babe Pamela Anderson, also confessed that although both his wives have been blonde, he likes dark haired and exotic looking women. "Plump women are fun. I like all sizes and shapes in women, they just seem wilder. It's almost like they don't get to play a lot, or something. I'm not sure what that is...," the report quoted him as saying. "Right now, you would think I have a preference for blondes because of my last two wives, but I actually don't. It just kinda worked out that way. I actually prefer the dark, exotic, brown, dark-haired Brazilian (women)," he added.

     London: 'Tomb Raider' star Angelina Jolie is reportedly enjoying the fruits of freedom, and the new experience of having a no-strings sex life after two failed marriages and divorces. The star who was married to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, is reveling in the freedom that single life brings. "I've been married so much in my life that I never really had lovers, so it's been a fun time," the actress was quoted by the Mirror as saying. "Hopefully, the men are enjoying it as well. But it's not deep love," she added.

Marilyn Monroe's fans picturesque remembrance (Go To Top)

     New York: It will be an eye candy treat for fans of Marilyn Monroe as over 200 pictures of the blonde actress go on display today at the Eastern Parkway institution at the Brooklyn Museum The collection titled "I Wanna Be Loved by You," covers her adult life from her pre-blonde days in 1945 to her death in 1962 at the age of 36 and features the work of 39 photographers. The museum authorities claim that the exhibit explores "how the power of photography helped transmute the shy Norma Jeane [Baker] into the most iconic screen goddess of all time." According to the New York Daily News, the photos include shots of Marilyn with her dress famously billowing as she stood over a subway grating at 51st St. and Lexington Ave. for "The Seven Year Itch," ,her nude photo that became the centerfold for the first issue of Playboy and rare images from her final, unfinished film, "Something's Got to Give." The exhibit comes from an extensive collection amassed by collector Leon Constantiner and is "based on his love for Marilyn and an appreciation of her beauty, talent and sensitivity," the museum bosses said. The display is on till March 20 and would also include talks, musical programs, a Marilyn look-alike contest and film screenings.
