McGregor attacked by blood-sucking parasites (Go To Top)

          Washington: "Spiderman" star Ewan Macgregor recently gave his fans quite a scare after he received emergency treatment following a deadly mosquito bite. A mosquito bit the 33-year old actor who is currently on a motorcycle world tour with fellow actor Charley Boorman while in Kazakhstan, which caused his head to swell up. However, he continued on his tour even after doctor's warned him to stop for a further check-up. By the time he reached Turkestan, his condition was so bad that he had to be rushed to a hospital. According to Imdb, the "Big Fish" actor is believed to have been bitten by one of Eastern Europe's dangerous blood-sucking parasites after Boorman insisted that they sleep in tents instead of proper hotels. Doctor's have now said that he is out of danger and can continue on his trip. The motorcycle trip will cover Europe, North America, Mongolia and Siberia and the pair has already had other adventures like being stopped by gun toting militiamen.

Indian spiritual guru meets Bush (Go To Top)

         Washington: US President George W Bush recently invited an Indian guru to the Oval Office as a special guest. Bush not only spent time with him, but also requested him to have a photograph with him. According to the Daily Times, Bush embraced Sri Sri Ravi Shankar from Banglore and asked him to "please keep us in your prayers." Shankar is the founder of the Art of Living Foundation and the International Association of Human Values, said the report. He held discussions with Bush Administration officials on faith- based initiatives, which the President has declared a "top priority."

Britney Spears is out of control (Go To Top)

         London: Being under fire for long has finally taken a toll on Britney Spears. The pop diva, who has been constantly criticised for miming on stage and for her stormy romance with dancer Kevin Federline, appears to be under a great stress The 'Toxic' star, fled from the stage in a recent show in Germany, crying to her waiting car and sped back to her hotel, even as fans waited to get a glimpse. "Dozens of fans were waiting for her outside the hotel. She rushed straight past them with her baseball cap pulled right down over her eyes," an onlooker was quoted by The Sun, as saying. "But everyone could see she had been crying her eyes out on the limo journey. Her mascara was streaming down her face," the onlooker added. The 'Me Against Music ' singer is reportedly under great depression as her saga of troubles seems never ending.

Posh wears Becks' shorn hair (Go To Top)

          London: Victoria Beckham has now discovered a unique way to keep David Beckham tied to her. Posh has got David's shorn hair weaved into her own tresses. The couple, who have faced a testing time following revelations of David's alleged infidelities, seem desperate to show that they are one. So, when the star footballer decided to get rid of his long blond locks, Victoria insisted on weaving them into her hair, reports The Sun. "Victoria dreamed up the idea and asked David to keep some of his hair. He thought it was a wonderful gesture and handpicked some strands for her. Victoria told her hairdresser to sew them into her extensions. It is a token of their love," a close friend of the couple was quoted as saying. "There was no way Victoria would let a couple of girls blow her marriage to bits. Their marriage is strong and sewing her hair into his own proves how rock solid it is," the friend added.

         London: Mel Gibsons's beauty experiments in 'What Women Want' seems to have inspired many Hollywood hunks about beauty treatments. Even a tough star like Arnold Schwarzenegger could not resist the temptation to revamp his looks through beauty treatments. The 'Terminator' star is a regular visitor to a Beverly Hill saloon to pamper his body and looks. "He comes in maybe twice a month and gets a haircut and sometimes a pedicure for an ingrown toenail from his body-building days," Giuseppe Franco, the owner of the saloon was quoted by Ananova, as saying. "And sometimes he gets a little colour - medium brown - on his sideburns. Most of the men do that, of course," Franci added. Schwarzenegger was recently spotted relaxing in the saloon, with a plastic cap on his head while his security staff stopped curious onlookers from peering at the California Governor.

Brian Jones was assassinated, says new flick (Go To Top)

         Washington: A new film based on the life of Rolling Stones legendary guitarist Brian Jones has revealed that he was murdered by his builder Frank Thorogood, who was working on his mansion, reports rate the music. The 27-year old Paint It Black star was found dead in his swimming pool in 1969. An inquiry later disclosed that he had drink and drugs in his system which led a coroner to record his death as a "misadventure". But according to makers of a new film titled The Wild and Wicked World of Brian Jones, Thorogood confesses to the murder on his death bed. He reportedly told relatives, "It was me that did Brian. I just finally snapped."

Blondes are not born blondes in Britain (Go To Top)

          London: A poll carried out for the women's website iVillage.co.uk has revealed that only 25 percent of British blondes have naturally fair hair. The remaining 75 percent dye their hair for a more glamorous look or to hide signs of ageing. Nearly 3,500 women participated in the poll. The poll revealed that in Manchester, 45 per cent of women are blonde, with only 24 per cent of them were naturals. In Bournemouth, 43 per cent are blonde but a tiny eight per cent are natural. In Birmingham, 43 per cent are blonde and 21 per cent natural. Brighton has 38 per cent blondes with the highest proportion of naturals at 25 per cent. According to the website's hair and beauty expert Roni Dutta, "Britain has an ageing population. But as our attitudes become younger, so must our appearance."

There's no love lost between Uma Thurman and Daryl Hannah (Go To Top)

          London: They might have co-starred in Kill Bill 2, but at the premiere of their movie they just could not stand the sight of each other. According to the Mirror, Kill Bill 2 blondes Uma Thurman and Daryl Hannah appeared frosty at the screening of the movie. Uma even brazenly tried to drag director Quentin Tarantino away from Daryl as they posed for pictures. "Each star had their own tent at the bash, but seating organisers were told that Daryl and Uma's areas couldn't be next to each other. They don't appear to be the best of pals," an insider was quoted as saying. The guests included Mick Jagger, Damon Dash, Dennis Quaid, Kathleen Turner, Meg Mathews, Natalie Imbruglia and Sofia Coppola.

          London: Top British model Jordan has admitted that her silicone boobs are sagging. In fact, recent photos of the 25-year old glamour girl has revealed stretch lines under her huge assets. "I'm not this plastic thing like some people think. My body is susceptible to gravity like anyone else's," the Sun quoted Jordan as saying. Jordan, whose real name is Katie Price has disclosed that her bust is 32DD, not 34FF as has been claimed, after three boob jobs. Meanwhile, Jordan has also said that her next project is a book of saucy snaps revealing her steamy sexual fantasies.

          London: Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz is a loner! The 'Vanilla Sky' beauty has recently revealed that she would love to be alone rather than have boyfriend Justin Timberlake around. Though the couple have been seeing each other for more than a year now, yet Diaz admits that she would be just as happy without him. "I am independent. I love living alone. I don't think I could live with anybody. I hang out with my cats. My fantasy is a month without any communication with anyone," the actress was quoted by the Sun, as saying.

Anupam Kher's Pak show cancelled (Go To Top)

          Karachi: Bollywood icon Anupam Kher's autobiographical play "Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai" was cancelled on Tuesday after Pakistan's Interior Ministry indicated a security threat to it. "The decision to cancel was taken by us as direct consequence of bomb threats to the performance that we were informed of by the director general of a large auditorium in Karachi," the Daily Times quoted CEO of the Pakistan Herald Publications Hameed Haroon as saying in a statement. "The Federal Ministry of Interior refused to issue the necessary no-objection certificates for the performances," he added.

Mahesh, Pooja Bhatt in Lahore next week (Go To Top)

          Lahore: Mahesh and Pooja Bhatt, the father-daughter duo, are likely to arrive here to attend the second annual dinner of a Pakistan-based fashion magazine, the Daily Times quoted sources from the fashion industry as saying Tuesday. During their three-day stay in Lahore, both the Bolywood stars will meet a number of people from the showbiz and the fashion world, said the report. The "Depilex Vision" has arranged the exclusive event, and the country's top fashionistas and Lollywood stars are likely to grace the occasion. The celebrations are a part of broader interaction with South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries and to promote the fashion industry in the region. Last year, father Mahesh and daughter Pooja visited Pakistan and attended the Kara International Film Festival held in Karachi. Mahesh Bhatt and his daughter had long been striving for promoting friendly relations through films between the people of the two countries. In December 2003, Pooja's debut directorial effort, the film 'Paap', was the first Indian movie to premiere at the Kara International Film Festival in Karachi. Now, Mahesh also plans to produce films that would enhance interpersonal contacts between the two countries. Besides, Mahesh is also working on some projects with Pakistani actress-turned-director Samina Peerzada. Both Mahesg and Peerzada had detailed meetings in Karachi, when Bhatt came there in December last year.
