London:
Victoria Beckham has shown Euro 2004 the red card by
declaring that she will only go to an England match to watch
David if they reach the final. The soccer skipper's wife
and pop star said that the tournament does not fit in with
her busy schedule. "Victoria has made it quite clear she
isn't coming to Euro 2004 unless England reach the final.
Apparently it does not fit in with her time scale as she
has a promotional tour to do. But we would be very surprised
not to see her in Portugal if England reach the final,"
the Sun quoted a senior football source as saying.
The
Beckhams' marriage has been under extraordinary strain over
the past six weeks. When claims of David's affair with Rebecca
Loos broke, the couple made a public display of togetherness.
Claims of other affairs, including a fling with hooker Sarah
Marbeck added to the tension. David splashed out on a one
million pound giant pink diamond ring and matching earings
for Posh's 30th birthday in a bid to patch things up. Meanwhile,
a spokesman for Victoria, who will be promoting a new single
this summer, backtracked and said, "Victoria is hopeful
England will bring the cup home. She will try to attend
as many games as possible."

in another Bollywood flick (Go

Lahore:
Lollywood icons Sana and Javed Sheikh have signed on
for another Bollywood flick titled "Paak", based on India-Pakistan
relations. Talking to the Daily Times from Mumbai, Sheikh
said the film's storyline was based on positive relations
between the two countries. He said he would be enacting
the role of a goodwill ambassador working for peace. Sana,
he said, would be the solo heroine in the flick. Waheeda
Rehman, Raj Babbar and his son will take on three of the
other major roles in the film, he added. Sheikh hoped that
films like "Paak" would boost people-to-people contact between
the two nations. Ashok Mishra would direct the film, while
Nikil-Vinay would compose the music. Bollywood choreographer
Saroj Khan would look after the dance sequences, he said.
Sana, however, did not disclose her character in the film,
saying she had yet to discuss her role in detail with the
director and the producer. The couple has already participated
in the Indian film "Sitam".
Abba to re-release Eurovision
winning song 'Waterloo' (Go
To Top)
London:
Pop icons Abba are re-releasing their hit single "Waterloo,"
thirty years after they shot to fame when the song won the
1974 Eurovision contest. Following the contest, the Swedish
band went on to become one of the most popular bands of
all time till it finally broke up in 1982. The lead vocalist
Agnetha Flatskog launched her solo career, but received
only moderate success. The band re-united once after that
to sing at a friend's birthday party. According to BBC,
the release of the song in May will coincide with this year's
Eurovision, which will take place in Istanbul. The 30th
anniversary of the group's memorable Eurovision win in Brighton
will see a series of events to mark the occasion taking
place in Bristol. A host of Abba tribute bands will play
at venues across the city, while the theme of the weekend
will be distinctly seventies. This year's Eurovision Song
Contest will be quite different from the 1974 event, which
saw Abba's Waterloo win. In fact the event has grown so
much that for the first time a semi-final will be held to
determine the 24 countries that will sing in the grand finale
on May 15.
Eat your greens and keep
cancer at bay (Go
To Top)
London:
The next time you exclude your greens from your food,
think twice. For a chemical found in cooked Brussels sprouts
and cabbage can destroy tumour cells. In a new study, Professor
Johnson of the Institute of Food Research in Norwich discovered
that wonder chemical allyl- isothiocyanate (AITC) targeted
and wiped out colon tumour cells. AITC is present in swede,
cauliflower, kale, mustard, horseradish and Japanese relation
wasabi. It is produced when the vegetables from the brassica
family are chopped and lightly cooked in a little water.
According to the Sun, Professor Ian Johnson, who led the
British research team, said eating these veggies three times
a week could slash cancer rates. They also protects against
cancers of the stomach, pancreas, oesophagus and lung. "It
shows preventative dietary measures can be exploited the
same as drugs. People are more aware of foods that may cause
cancer than those that have a protective effect. We hope
to show the importance of diet in the anti-cancer armoury,
" he said. Professor Johnson warned that stewing the vegetables
would kill the chemical and recommended servings of 80g,
pre-cooked weight equal to a large handful of cabbage or
small handful of sprouts.
Kirsten glad that Tobey
not Jake became Spiderman (Go

Washington:
One might think otherwise, but Kirsten Dunst is secretly
glad that her real-life boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal was not
her co-star in the Spiderman sequel. According to Imdb,
it's not that she is not keen to work with him, but believes
that the critics would have savaged the couple . Gyllenhaal
was to take over from Tobey Maguire, but the Seabiscuit
star briefly fell out with producers. "Jake and I will work
together down the line. I was happy it wasn't Spiderman.
It wouldn't have been good for the movie. It's so much better
that Tobey played Spiderman," Kirsten said.
A terrific way to please
goddess by Ravinder Singh Robin (Go

Amritsar:
Is it a miracle, an illusion, blessings of goddess Mahamai
Marriaman or the precise scientific know-how of human body
that despite piercing iron rods and tridents through their
cheeks, tongues, pulling cars with irons hooks pierced on
their backs, the devotees of Goddess doesn't shed a single
drop of blood or show expression of pain on their faces.
Instead, they take out a procession on road to please the
Goddess for her divine blessings. The devotees of "Mahamai
Marriaaman", who have formed South Indian Sewak Sabha and
Madrasi Rajput Society, perform these awesome acts of devotion
after their wish was granted by the Goddess and also to
please her and obtain her blessings during their annual
Agni Puja held at Amritsar on Sunday.
Surprisingly
the devotees didn't use any antiseptic but besmeared some
'holy ash' on the parts to be pierced. Sham Sunder, an ardent
devotee of the goddess told ANI that the devotees who participates
in the 'puja' to please the goddess didn't eat any thing
three days prior to the puja but only worship goddess, performs
havanas, abstain from non-vegetarian food and sleeps on
the floor. They just put some ghee on the tridents. He said
inspired by the divine blessings of goddess, a lot of Punjabis
have also become the devotees of the Goddess and pleases
her by piercing their bodies. Devotees from far-flung places
also arrive here to participate in the Agni Puja. However,
Dr Kuldeep Roy, a surgeon by profession told ANI that these
people have the know-how of the body. They pierce the midline
of tongue having a lean blood supply and so does they pierce
the centre of cheeks since the blood supplies from the periphery
due to which there was hardly any blood in the centre.

problems on the professional as well as the personal front.

Sun, this is a huge setback for the actress who was hoping
to revive her sinking career with the show. She is currently
is locked in a bitter custody battle with her ex- husband
actor Jude Law for the couple's three children Iris, Rafferty
and Rudy. This was her first time on television and the
show producers were hoping that she would be able to get
in a lot of celebrity's because of her contacts. However
this did not happen and after the show launched off impressively
with Gwyneth Paltrow, the other artists included virtually
unknown artists like Tracey Emin, dope smuggler Howard Marks,
Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss and singer Peaches. "Sadie
got a lot of criticism for being a lightweight interviewer.
People just didn't warm to the sycophantic way she treated
her celebrity pals on the show," said a source.
