Banned Bollywood 'Drag Queen' in UK next week (Go To Top)

London: A Hindi movie about drag queens or eunuchs is all set to premiere in the UK next Thursday. 'The Pink Mirror' starring Ramesh Menon and Edwin Fernandes has been denied a certificate in India because of its homosexual content. "The Censor Board has refused to give it a certificate - not even an adult certificate - because they consider it full of obscenity and vulgarity," director Sridhar Rangayan was quoted by BBC, as saying.

The 40-minute long movie explores the gay landscape and tells the story of two drag queens - Shabbo (Edwin Fernandes) and Bibbo (Ramesh Memon). The movie revolves around the two drag queens who battle it out with a gay teenager to win afftections of a handsome young man. The movie does not strictly follow the Bollywood genre but uses many of its cliches like the songs and dance routines. According to the director of the movie which has been already premiered in a number of international film festivals was banned in India because it deals with issues that the Censor Board finds uncomfortable. Though cross-dressing is not an alien concept in the subcontinent and eunuchs, or 'hijras' - as they are known in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh - have made numerous appearances on screen Rangayan feels that his movie is the first attempt to showcase the life of drag queens in Hindi language.

Feng Shui for your hair (Go To Top)

London: Do you feel like stuck in a rut and need a change of direction? Well, go visit your hairdresser. And who knows you might land that dream job, find the right home or enjoy a fulfilling relationship. According to Feng Shui expert Raymond Catchpole, the way we shape, cut and style our hair has a profound influence on our relationship with the world around us, reports This is London. Catchpole, chairman of the Feng Shui Society, has identified nine personality types and the hair styles best suited to those traits. For example there are the nurturing types, who should go for "blonde, sandy tones", keeping the hair off their faces. Or passionate personality, who does best with "strong colours, bold style and long tresses or curls". Mountain personalities, meanwhile, are stubborn and single minded, and therefore need hair that accentuates strong facial features. Catalysts or problem solvers who are interested in people, should adopt the girl-next-door look with pony tails, buns or plaits in "a loose and friendly style". And thunder types - active, ambitious, supportive people, need to adopt a messy, tousled style, cut short and off the face "so as to be able to impart ideas and concepts without constraint", Catchpole said. Catchpole, who was commissioned by Harmony Hair Products, insists changing your hair is the first step in changing your life. "You can apply the rules of feng shui to your hair to change preconceived perceptions about you," he said. "Feng shui works through colour, light, texture, weight, shape and movement. Each personality type will react favourably to a particular approach. Whether it's cutting, growing, curling or straightening, changes can build self-confidence within the individual according to personality type," he added.
