Eric
Bana is America's new sex symbol (Go

Sydney:
Australian actor Eric Bana has reached sex symbol status
in the US. The 'Troy' star is touring the US like a rock
star with his new pal, actor Brad Pitt, appearing on major
television shows. The actor duo of the Greek epic are currently
on a publicity tour and the response they are getting, particularly
from female fans, would make The Beatles or Rolling Stones
blush, reports News.com. Bana and Pitt shared a couch on
Oprah Winfrey's talk show, launching the studio audience
into frenzy. When Oprah introduced Bana, women of all ages
in her audience were shrieking like schoolgirls, giving
the Melbourne-based actor a 20-second standing ovation.
Later they were swamped at the MTV headquarters in New York
by a studio of screaming teenagers. One girl left her seat
to give the two stars a hug. "It's Brad Pitt and Eric Bana
Day, or as I like to call it, Wives Leave Your Wedding Rings
At Home Day," MTV host Damien Fahey, standing with Bana
and Pitt, and surrounded by about 100 fans told his audience.
Bana and Pitt were amused over this behaviour by their female
fans. "That's terrible behaviour," Bana was quoted as saying.
Bana and Pitt acted like great mates, slapping each other
on the thigh and giving each other hugs. In Troy, which
opens in Australia on Thursday next week, Bana plays Prince
Hector of Troy and fights a dramatic battle against the
Trojan War's greatest warrior, Achilles, played by Pitt.

young detectives are back on the trail once again and this

idiot box. According to the Sun, Enid Blyton's tales of
four frightfully middle class children and Timmy the dog,
are to be featured in a new TV series. Brothers Julian and
Dick, sister Anne and their tomboy cousin Georgina (George)
first appeared in Five On A Treasure Island in 1942. This
was followed by twenty books as they solved crimes in a
gentler, more innocent world.
Barbie-shaped women are the most fertile

London:
At last, the Western man's penchant for women with an
hourglass shape may have some biological justification.
A new study conducted at the Jagiellonian University in
Krakow, Poland, has revealed that large-breasted, narrow-waisted
women have the highest reproductive potential, reports New
Scientist. According to the lead researcher Grazyna Jasienska, women
with a relatively low waist-to-hip ratio and large breasts
had about 30 per cent higher levels of the female reproductive
hormone estradiol than women with other combinations of
body shapes. Two of the team, Peter Ellison and Susan Lipson
at Harvard University in the US, have previously shown that
higher levels of estradiol are indeed related to higher
fertility in women trying to get pregnant. "If there are
30 per cent higher levels, it means they are roughly three
times more likely to get pregnant," said Jasienska. 119
Polish women aged between 24 and 37, who were not taking
any kind of hormonal contraception or medication were studied.
Saliva
samples taken from the women revealed that those with narrow
waists and large breasts had on average 26 per cent higher
levels of the hormone 17-b-estradiol, than women of other
shapes. This peaked to 37 percent in the middle of their
menstrual cycle. Waist-to-hip ratio also had a strong effect
on levels of another female hormone, progesterone. Jasienska
said that higher progesterone levels should also theoretically
translate to increased fertility. However, large breast
size was not significantly related to increased progesterone.
Jasienska said that a preference for low waist-to-hip ratios
is a "universal feature" in psychological studies of men.
"It was interesting to see what we observed in psychological
studies has some biological background," she said.

I'm cutting back on smoking because there's no way in hell
I can be on stage and perform the way I want to," rate the

by her idol and friend Madonna to quit smoking. "Madonna
